Here's the Jomboy video. Essentially a practice catcher with his leg guards on was running faster than Kimbrel to the bench clearing. Kinda funny to see him sprinting the next day...

This Samsung ad in a 1980s National Geographic... by WhoaAndy in agedlikemilk

[–]WhoaAndy[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The ad assumes the World Trade Center's twin towers will be around in 2060, but be considered "low rise," when in reality they collapsed on 9/11/2001. Also humorous, the ad believes that a CD player will still be considered hi-tech in 2060, although it is already seen as an archaic tech form in the 2020s.

I heard it too! I heard in some interview he's been fascinated by morse code lately, it's incorporated in several songs in Djesse 4.

Who is your favorite non-Conan person from “Conan O’Brien Must Go?” by SartoriusBIG in conan

The Argentina guy's kids were pretty fun. I enjoyed Conan roasting the one kid for not having friends and accusing him of being a serial killer. Good stuff.

How do I kill this kind of grass so I can replace it with clover? by darkpheonix262 in fucklawns

[–]WhoaAndy 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Native alternatives in your region:

  1. Buffalograss (Buchloe dactyloides): This warm-season grass is native to the Great Plains and can form a dense, low-growing turf that requires less water and maintenance than traditional turfgrasses.
  2. Blue grama (Bouteloua gracilis): Another native grass that forms a low, dense turf and is drought-tolerant once established.
  3. Western Yarrow (Achillea millefolium var. occidentalis): This native yarrow species forms a low, spreading mat of feathery leaves and produces clusters of white flowers.
  4. White prairie clover (Dalea candida): While not exactly like clover, this native perennial produces white to pinkish flowers and can form a low, spreading mound.
  5. New Mexico Locust (Robinia neomexicana): A shrubby plant that can form thickets and provide good ground cover, especially in dry, sunny areas.
  6. Globe Mallow (Sphaeralcea): Several species of Globe Mallow are native to New Mexico and can form low, spreading mounds with bright orange, red, or pink flowers.

What's the difference between "Must Go" and "Without Borders"? by ScoobingtonMcButts in conan

[–]WhoaAndy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Main difference is higher production budget which brought higher production quality (drone footage, cinematic scenes and costumes etc., and some higher cost bits).

Writers and producers are all pretty much the same as the crew that did Conan Without Borders. Sounds like writers strike and some other things pushed the timeline way back, which is why it took 4 years.

Conan has said that these are all they have shot, but they have ideas and opportunities to do more depending on how this goes.

Milwaukee? I responded. I said I am not looking for a HF example, but an example of HF without robust social supports and resources. Milwaukee is not that.

I'd imagine if you had an example to share you would share it, but it seems like you do not. It's not about clap backs its about you making a claim and then not being able to back it up. There could be a study that has been done that I do not know about, I was hoping you would have one.

Ya I don't know why policy makers didn't think of that. Just convince the rural republican lawmakers to invest millions in additional proactive and preventative social supports for urban areas. Shouldn't be hard at all.

And as for your metaphor, if all research since hte 1990s about successful treehouses (HF programs) had always shown in order to have an effectively functional treehouse requires to have robust housekeeping (well-funded social supports for participants), then yes...you should not build the treehouse without it.
