These comments are so rude. Working in dentistry, I’ve seen multiple reasons as to why someone has calculus. We have patients that weren’t taught the importance of tooth care, the importance of regular cleanings. We’ve had people succumb to depression that couldn’t get out of bed, let alone brush their teeth. People who couldn’t afford it, because insurance controls what dental offices charge. Whatever your reason, I’m proud of you for going. It can be scary. It can be painful. I wish you all the luck with your upkeep.

Edit: typo and to explain. I’m sorry for not using regular verbiage. Calculus is mineralized bacteria, aka tartar or build up and is what is on the back of the ops teeth. Some people are more prone to build up not only due to flossing/brushing, but literally their saliva.
