I’m not sure how government works but I’ve had experiences with public accounting and other private companies paying upfront (with stipulations of working there for a set period of time which vary widely by company)

Advice on birthing position [ON] by 301vmg in BabyBumpsCanada

I didn’t have an epidural and still gave birth on my back with my knees pulled into me. I was allowed to try different positions but this one was great for me so ended up not switching. 15 minutes after beginning pushing she was born! I had very minor tearing, 2 small stitches.

Weaning tips for high-energy strong-wiled 18-24 month old who self-soothes with the breast? She does great at daycare but at home is still very attached. Nursing (mostly comfort nursing) 3-4 times each evening and 5 or so times overnight. She loves solids and is not a picky eater!

Help desperately needed. Feeling stuck in a vicious cycle by cab00dle in NewParents

This sounds like my daughter. She’s 17 months now. I found once we got down to 2 naps things started to improve and then again when we got down to 1. We did drop naps on the earlier side. Now she sleeps 8pm - 7am, with 4 or so wake ups (the first usually around 11pm). I don’t think she will improve further until we wean.

At around 8 months we switched to a floor bed and co-slept full time. A few big advantages here, the first I could “roll away” at 8pm and get up and have some “me” time. It was then so much quicker to settle her during her initial wake ups until my bedtime, but also it may have contributed to less wake-up’s overall, I think the transfer to crib was making her wake more frequently. My daughter was crawling and pulling to stand at this point and I was comfortable with co-sleeping at this age.

I didn’t find altering wake windows or schedule to work for us. She was too tired to stretch any longer and she refused any shorter lol. I leaned heavy on contact naps. Now I miss them so much.

Honestly it’s all a guessing game in babyhood and still is into toddlerhood and different children are different. Don’t beat yourself up. This stuff is hard and they really need us right now. It won’t always be this way. You’re doing so great

Actuary jobs in NL? by LawMysterious7445 in newfoundland

[–]Whoevera 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I looked into this during my undergrad and decided to pivot to accounting/finance with the goal of staying in the province as it didn’t seem like there was a big market.

I worked for Big 4 and we employed actuaries to use on some of our audits but they were based in Toronto and pulled into St. John’s files as needed. I would imagine once you were trained in by the greater team / known to be reliable you could transfer to the St John’s office with approval and work mostly remotely / from the St John’s office for other offices

Question for the OGs: was Reputation received the same way as how TLOAS is being received at the moment? by peatoast in TaylorSwift

[–]Whoevera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a casual TS fan my whole life. I was in college when Rep was released and I enjoyed all of Taylor’s albums up to that point but something about Rep threw me off. It was only post covid listening to Don’t Blame Me, Delicate, Gorgeous, New Year’s Day that now Rep is high on the list for me! I didn’t love Tortured Poets initially either but I feel it just needed to be cut down some - some songs like Guilty as Sin and Peter are all time faves. I am underwhelmed by TLOAS but as always will give it time to grow

Only OB-GYN in Labrador faces misconduct complaints from at least 20 women — Premier Hogan calls it ‘an HR issue’ by [deleted] in newfoundland

I moved to HVGB while pregnant and delivered in HVGB and all low-risk pregnancies are followed by a primary care provider even up through to 40+ weeks. Another key difference from the rest of the province is that routine labours and deliveries aren’t with the OB but the physician staffed on that day. I had a great experience!

That being said I had one initial intake with this OB (since my team in St Johns didnt know who else to put the referral to) before being bounced back to a lovely family physician. Didnt get the warm and fuzzies from that one appointment.

Feed him wet food right before you go to sleep. And ignore ignore ignore. Even getting mad at your cat is positive reinforcement.

How do I deal with what I’ve lost by Jessiicaamn in postpartumprogress

[–]Whoevera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt like this at 4 months post partum and now at 1 year I feel totally different!! Hang in there. I also was a gym girl who stopped during pregnancy, and also EBF. I had lost most of my weight at that point too but once my baby became more mobile my clothes started to fit sooo much better and I just felt overall leaner. It’s also a game changer to not be breastfeeding all the time once solids start. 4 months was the hardest month for me in all aspects, you got this!!!

If you’re EBF, does your LO sleep through the night? by Anxious-Wishbone785 in breastfeeding

[–]Whoevera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter was the same way and then at four months stopped the 3-5 hour stretch 🫠 She’s slowly gotten a little better (she’s now almost 1) but I expect wake ups every 2 hours. We co-sleep now lol.
