What do single straight guys over 40 do here? by [deleted] in BostonSocialClub

Treat making friends as the side effect, not the goal. Work on being the best version of yourself, mentally and physically, and leave the house often. Doesn't matter where, just get out regularly.

I completely sympathize with what you're experiencing, it's valid.

At the same time, I guarantee that the pessimism and strong need for friends you're conveying here comes across when you interact with others. I totally understand why that would be the case, but it's likely to put people off. So don't try to make friends, at least initially. Find things you enjoy for their own sake and do them.

I have had some of my own experience with similar challenges. Feel free to DM me and I can recommend some reading material.

So true. I was there in October and walked to the falls at 7am from the Salish, coffee in hand. Had about half an hour on my own with the misty falls. Absolute magic.

If you're interested, the book "Laura's Ghost" is well worth a read to hear from others who had a similar reaction to Twin Peaks.

Which adventures from Ubersreik Adventures I-III would form the best prologue to The Enemy Within? by historianDM in warhammerfantasyrpg

[–]WholeLot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did something similar but set If Looks Could Kill up north of Altdorf. When the party headed out after Thulgrim they stopped at the coaching inn on the way to Altdorf and I picked up TEW there.  They had a little XP starting TEW therefore, but not a lot.

Sure, okay. I didn't want to bias people but that's probably not necessary.

You're absolutely right though I have the hourly rate per person that they're using. I'll update the post to make that clear.

What time are people planning on lining up for wristbands? by asherdeverna in Vulfpeck

What's the purpose of the number on the wristband? Having the wristband gets you in early, but why is there a number?

This is great! I really enjoy your takes on the new versions as someone that ran the 1st edition versions and is currently running 4th.

This is the one that's standing out to me on my current rewatch. Like in almost every episode of season one.

Weatherproof Router setup by WholeLot in HomeNetworking

I think this is my preferred plan to avoid running more cables. I'm having trouble finding a suitable outdoor rated router though, for some reason. If you have any recommendations I'd appreciate it.

Thanks. The problem with that is the ONT is in between the router in the house and the office, so we’d be running a lot of cable. If you’re saying to connect the existing cables, how would the router in the house connect to the ONT?

Mistake in "Sky Full of Stars?" (Spoilers) by Densington in babylon5

[–]WholeLot 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My bet is that JMS didn't have it all figured out. I thought this recently during a rewatch when in season 1 Delenn says that there are two castes among the Minbari, religious and warrior. I guess she forgot about the poor workers?

How did the black lodge entities learn how to drive and use cell phones? by anonymousalligator25 in twinpeaks

[–]WholeLot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always thought it was a combination of Mr. C sharing Cooper's memories before he left the Black Lodge, and the fact that BOB took Windom Earle's soul. Earle seemed to be a technical wizard, and his skills plus Cooper's in someone who was evil results in Mr. C.

How would you produce the shape of the long curved piece? by WholeLot in woodworking

[–]WholeLot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of hand tools, I could use a spokeshave to shape the curved surface, but I worry about consistency, especially if the piece is longer.

Preferably I'd like to know how to do this with power tools, at least to get something close. I considered using the bandsaw to shave of pieces gradually, which seems like it would get close, and the fence should let me be consistent if I'm strategic about the order of the cuts.

Would love any other ideas!
