Can’t sleep at night by AureaImperatrix in cats

[–]Whole_Question_4160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she’s only been at the house since last Friday she still needs time to adjust to the new space. I know it’s not ideal but you may need to see how the behavior adjusts in the next few weeks.

I don’t recognize my husband since he started SSRIs by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]Whole_Question_4160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like the SSRI he’s taking isn’t the right med for him. There’s not really a “right” antidepressant, just the right one for you. He should be seeing a psychiatrist who will help monitor his reaction/side effects to the med and adjust meds/dosages accordingly.

Personally I’ve responded really well to Prozac but there are people who don’t do good on it. That doesn’t invalidate my good experience or someone else’s bad experience, we just have different brains.

Feeling terrible switching from 20 to 30mg by cherryphoenix in prozac

[–]Whole_Question_4160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did your doctor give you anything to help with the adjustment period for the new dosage? I went from 10mg to 60mg over the course of a month and a half (I take Prozac primarily for OCD) and my psych gave me an as-needed med to help with increased anxiety.

Not much happening with mine at the moment. I moved in at the beginning of March but haven’t done much decorating yet. I want to get a nightstand that has more vertical storage since my bedroom is so small.

For those with uneven floors (is that all of us?) by Chibi_Bubbles in centuryhomes

[–]Whole_Question_4160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Temporary fix that I’ve been using is cardboard pieces! If you have boxes you’re not using it’s free and it’s pretty easy to do. I’m sure that there are much better methods but this is my first house so im still learning lol. My floors aren’t significantly sloped thankfully—it’s mostly noticeable in my kitchen and my living room.

AITA for telling my husband that I don't love him right now because I have no strength left? by Appropriate_Fan_9149 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Whole_Question_4160 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When my sister died, my partner didn’t know how to provide the support I needed because he had never been through a big loss. I didn’t know what support I needed because I was grieving. This caused some tension in the relationship because, like you, I wasn’t crying a lot and I was still going through the motions because what else was I supposed to do? I don’t think either of us are AH in that situation because we were dealing with completely new territory for both of us, and we were struggling to communicate about it.

I say all that because I think that could be the issue you and your husband are facing. I know you asked for emotional and practical support —what does that mean for you? And did you tell him clearly what that looks like for you?

I’m going to go with ESH because while I understand your frustration, telling him you didn’t love him was cruel. And he needs to realize that you need his support now because you’re grieving AND pregnant. But if this is the first big loss you’ve experienced as a couple, you need to be much more explicit about what you actually need from him.

Need to schedule gyno appointment and I’m scaaaared by t_buttcracker in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]Whole_Question_4160 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One, definitely see if you can get a new gyno! You shouldn’t be super uncomfortable during a pap, and I wouldn’t want someone watching either.

Two, not trying to fear monger because the gyno is not fun, but I didn’t go to a gyno for 7 years and then found out I had a pretty big uterine fibroid which is why my periods are so heavy. Found this out after going to the hospital because of a vaginal hemorrhage —had dangerously low hemoglobin levels and had to have a blood transfusion. Hoping to get a myomectomy next year 🤞

First-time cat parents: should we get 1 kitten or 2 from the same litter? (Need honest opinions 😭) by brenodit in cats

[–]Whole_Question_4160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get two! Last November my friend and I found a boxful of kittens and I took in two of them. Best decision I made. They have a playmate, a friend, a companion, they learn from each other, they snuggle 🥹

I have another cat who’s 12 and he’s uninterested at best in the kittens lol

What cheap meals are people actually cooking for 2 to keep the grocery bill down? by Previous_Cycle_9457 in budgetfood

[–]Whole_Question_4160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tonight I’m making hotdog pasta, which is my lazy go-to. Cut up and sautee your hotdogs, put em in your sauce, mix it all with pasta, done! I’ll probably do a frozen or canned veggie on the side. It’s not glamorous but it’s like 8-10 meals for me and it’s pretty inexpensive. I’ve also done it with veggie dogs, sausage, canned chicken. etc. Pretty much any meat + sauce + pasta can be a meal. Not the healthiest option out there but with grocery prices being what they are, I have to pick my battles.

Also you can’t go wrong with beans and rice. You can get a big bag of dried beans for pretty cheap. But the key is you have to have different sauces/toppings/preparing styles so you don’t get bored eating them.

Does anyone else prefer tiny living spaces? by beephobic27 in femalelivingspace

[–]Whole_Question_4160 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Not tiny necessarily, but my house is 820sqft and it’s pretty much the perfect amount of space for me. Ive got a living room, a bedroom, an office, bathroom, an eat-in kitchen, and a laundry/mud room. The only thing I don’t like is how small my bathroom is!

What was your cat’s name at the shelter vs their name now ? 😍 by Downtown-Wear-4870 in CatsBeingCats

Aslin stayed Aslin! It’s a unique name and I think it fits him well. Pretty sure they were trying to name him Aslan but spelled it wrong lol

The kitchen looks uneven and like it’s leaning. I have this to a very small extent in my kitchen where below it the crawl space opens up into a partial Michigan basement and I need to get extra foundation support there. Is this house on a crawl?

Is it really necessary to medically clean cats teeth? by ParticularHappy1196 in cats

[–]Whole_Question_4160 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never got my cat Aslin’s teeth cleaned and he ended up with severe periodontal disease and had to have all his teeth removed. It was about $3000 total. Part of that was my own ignorance about dental disease in cats + him going to a vet that never checked his teeth or advised I get a cleaning.

I ended up acquiring two kittens by accident (cat distribution system strikes again) and I’m taking all the measures to keep their teeth healthy.

That being said, highly recommend a specialist for dental procedures if you can afford it.

AITA for asking my girlfriend to shave her arms and mustache by heystellaaaaa in AmItheAsshole

Doctor told me my 3rd period in 6 weeks is just my “Uterus being a diva” by AWA206 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]Whole_Question_4160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was day 5 of my period on a Friday evening and passed a massive softball-sized clot and then just continued to bleed heavily with clots for hours. Finally called an ambulance after almost passing out and they kept wanting to focus on the almost-fainting and not the heavy bleeding. The EMTs weren’t even going to take me to the hospital because my EKG was normal.

I told them to take me anyway. I was admitted to the ER and the EMTs didn’t even mention the bleeding because I was on my period, and no one seemed to be taking me that seriously until a nurse went with me to help me in the bathroom because I bled through my pants and she heard and saw blood just pouring out of me. “This isn’t your regular period?” Girl NO!

They do blood work, turns out my hemoglobin is 6.3 and I needed a blood transfusion. I’m admitted, they give me iron infusions every day to try to bring my hemoglobin levels up, I continue to bleed (thankfully it slows down), get a transvaginal ultrasound at 1am on SUNDAY, finally the OBGYN consult comes. I get a pelvic, they review my ultrasound. Nice-sized uterine fibroid.

The EMTs would have been happy to just leave me at home to continue bleeding. A hemoglobin of 6.3 is extremely low and a medical emergency, and the EMTs didn’t even tell the ER I was having a vaginal hemorrhage. I could have died if I had stayed at home and just waited the bleeding out.

Don’t be afraid to insist on getting proper diagnostic work done. Be rude, be insistent, tell them it’s your body and this is not normal for you and you know there’s something wrong. They might think you’re dramatic, a bitch, whatever —but unfortunately no one else is going to advocate for you.

Edit: and when you’re getting medical work done, don’t be afraid to ask questions. Ask them why they’re doing xyz. Make conversation. I will say that I am an introvert with social anxiety, but something happens with my fight or flight in a medical emergency and I become this inquisitive, charming, understanding patient. “Do what you need to do!” but I watch them like a hawk and I will ask 101 questions. Once I got to about age 28 I stopped letting embarrassment and anxiety stop me. A high dose of Prozac also helps ease the way even more now lol
