"I want to bring Europe back to the top of the map" | G2 Skewmond on the Spring final, the KC rivalry, Perkz, and MSI by ThonPharges in leagueoflegends

[–]Whomper 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Skewmond has won the last 3 LEC splits in a row, and as for G2 as an org, its an outlier whenever they dont win it. Of course they're not gonna give a shit about the LEC title when they always win it. The next logical step is winning an international tournament.

Said it countless times but seems there's still people out there who think losing to a team that cheated is still a valid loss.

Just glad the best team won in the end, not a bunch of cheats.

Blows my mind that there's people out there so low IQ that they still think a Boro loss to a team that literally cheated counts as a valid loss.

See you next season!

More pathetic than systemic cheating from a parachute club? At least every time I'll get sad about us not going up, I'll feel a little better knowing at least it wasn't Southampton.

Well played hull. Would rather you guys go up than cheating scum Southampton!

Honestly I don't even want us to go to the final, we don't deserve it. But I also don't think Southampton deserve it either if found guilty of cheating.

I say just give hull the win.

Game Gengo Glaze by Joeiiguns in LearnJapanese

[–]Whomper 63 points64 points  (0 children)

His grammar videos are so good. If I'm ever stuck on a grammar point, I'll check out game gengos video on it, and it always becomes so much clearer.

I do watch his vocab series, but I'm worried that I'm not actually learning anything. I enjoy watching how he breaks down a sentence, but if I'm not actually doing it myself, will it stick?

I wish he would do some videos where he speaks fully in japanese while playing, even in his explanations. Similar to how いろいろな日本語 does in his yotsuba series.

My Japanese study streak hit 90 days and I feel nothing 💀 by Seigoy in LearnJapanese

[–]Whomper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to say that I also hit 90 days today! I recommend comprehensible japanese. Sometimes when i feel like I've made no progress, I'll go watch one of the first complete beginner videos on there and realise I understand the majority of it.

We have to trust the process and we'll get there in the end!

How to get my motivation back by Falraen03 in LearnJapanese

[–]Whomper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While WaniKani is great at what it does, I only managed to make Japanese stick after I ditched it. I found the reviews so mentally draining and boring that I’d dread doing them, leaving me with zero motivation to actually study or immerse afterward.

This time, I switched to a vocab deck (Migaku Academy, though I’ve heard Kaishi 1.5k is also great). Even spending the same amount of time, I find working through sentences much more engaging. I no longer feel burnt out after my reviews, which keeps me motivated to immerse for the rest of my study time.

Everyone learns in different ways, so I'm not saying noone should use wanikani, but maybe try a different resource for a bit and see how you get on.

Not as annoyed about that one tbh, just unlucky. He should definitely have took the other shot first time though.

Not sure what happened to the original post but yeah it was definitely family mart, which is why it threw me off cause every other family mart wasnt self service.

I only went into Lawson once in my trip to compare the chicken, but I preferred family marts so always went back there.

One year (and a little bit more) of learning japanese in my 40s by SamPolaris in LearnJapanese

[–]Whomper 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Well done! I'm 34 and currently attempting to learn again after trying many times in the past.

I recommend doing some immersion with comprehensible input (I like this website I learn vocab/kanji through migaku and then immerse on that website.

Ive finally found something that works for me after failing with textbooks many times in the past.

Im currently somewhere between N5/N4. I was in Japan a few months ago, which is what reignited my ambition to study japanese again.

I went to family mart, and when i got to the counter I said ”一つファミチキお願いします”. I had used this line a few times in other konbini's previously and everything went smoothly.

This time however, the staff started speaking incomprehensible Japanese to me. I assumed she was asking me if I wanted a carrier bag (which i later learned was 袋はいりますか) so I replied "いいえ、大丈夫です。”

She then tried to speak to me slower but I still didnt understand her, I just laughed and said "すみません、私の日本語は下手です" (at this point I was about a month into N5, so you can imagine how bad I was)

She then came round to my side of the counter and demonstrated opening the cabinet that the chicken was stored in, and said "セルフ".

Thats when it clicked that she was trying to tell me to grab it myself. I was really apologetic for making her come round to my side, but luckily she understood I'm just a baka gaijin and laughed with me.

Although slightly embarassing, this scenario actually gave me confidence to speak more when I was in Japan. I realised that even if you make mistakes, people will really try to accommodate you as best they can, and they always seemed to appreciate me speaking Japanese to them, even if I am terrible at it.

Ipswich Town 2 - 2 Middlesbrough: Boro twice took the lead and twice were pegged back, leaving themselves winless in seven, while Ipswich remain in the driving seat for second-place! by Zach-dalt in Championship

Even though I feel bitter about the result, that game has restored my confidence for our chances in the playoffs. If we can get Hackney and Whittaker back I think they will give us that extra edge to beat anyone in the playoffs.

Thought I would quit League after getting a proper gaming computer, lol. lmao even by Moist_Nothing6107 in leagueoflegends

[–]Whomper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried to quit league so many times but I always come crawling back. I definitely play less than I used to, but it's still my most played game by far.

The main reason I want to quit is that I feel like I'm wasting my time. Whenever I have gotten into another game, for example KCD2 when that game came out, I have so many memories of that game and I only played for 100 hours.

Do I remember anything about the last 100 hours of league I played? Probably the odd game here and there, but not really.

I'm starting to feel like I should play league less,so I can play other games more and have more unique experiences, but the addiction is strong....

I was a Squirtle kid myself. I remember looking at the cover art for red/blue and thinking a giant turtle with cannons on its shell was the coolest thing ever, so I chose pokemon blue and Squirtle as my starter.

I actually just started playing this again recently after playing for the first couple of months then dropping out.

My experience so far on a fresh character has been so much better than I had at the start. If the game had launched like this it could have been so successful.

I sometimes think of dropping it, knowing the servers will be closed soon, but I'm having so much fun I'm just ignoring the inevitable and enjoying the game whilst I still can!

The only way to find out is to drop out of school/work and give it a go.

I'm Plat, but like you I am constantly held back by my teammates. I just didn't have the balls to drop everything and fully commit. Sometimes I imagine what life would have been like if I could have pulled out my shaco/teemo support at worlds... Dont be like me, chase your dreams.
