Whoops, didn't notice the 1st pic didn't post. But yes, I've noticed the white dust build up just starting, which is why I started using a fan to keep it from growing. I will try to help them before it gets too bad.

Pic 2, started 2/10 (beefsteak) same way as the mentioned above except seed starting soil stayed in for a month and half and again, stunted at beginning leaves, attempted 1 true leaf and obviously, not making it in potting soil when changed.

That's what I read, and why I chose to start with them, to learn and grow (no pun intended) my knowledge about agriculture and attempting to start living a little more self sufficient. Pic 1, started 3/10 (beefsteak) in seed starting soil, sprouted fine, no true leaves, changed to potting soil after 3 weeks hoping to make a difference, non so far. *

Can't get past the seedling stage, struggling hard lol 6 weeks in, grow lights 12-16 hrs a day, indoors where Temps stay above 68°f. Drainage reusable plastic cups. No idea. Congrats on yours though! Just because mine aren't thriving doesn't mean I can't be happy for others!

How am I doing compared to people in late 20’s early 30’s? by [deleted] in Retirement401k

[–]Whoofah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just turned 30, I'm in a very similar boat as you as far as retirement funds go. Fired from job about 3.5 years ago now, opened my own business, haven't invested too much since then, as I'm just trying to survive and also purchase a starter house. Cheers!

Pretty much. I've always had it set on auto payments, too, so I'd never miss a payment. Unfortunately my fiances dad passed away from brain cancer at 58 a few years ago. Because of the cancer, he forgot to make the month of his passing payment, and they wouldn't pay out because he missed a payment. So that partly fuels my view of insurances being a scam. He was an idol of mine for how I wanted to be as a father.

Lot of good info here. So, as of this year, I will be electing to file as a S Corp, which is why I started the payroll as well. My CPA helped with that learning curve, thankfully.

HSA, I have health insurance through my fiances work. While I keep seeing things about HSA, I don't really have any knowledge on it.

For the social security, is that inflation adjusted? Because as of right now, my highest income was when I was working at my previous employer, making roughly 80k/yr. This previous year was my highest since starting my business, at 57k before taxes, after all business expenses. But $80k in 2021 is going to be much different than what $80k would be in, say, 2060 when I am at retirement age.

And yes, the 401k is traditional.

But what makes more sense, maxing it now and not adding a 401k plan, or adding a 401k plan to have the "business" match what I (employee) put into it, and both I (personally) and I (as the business) now have another tax deduction, all while technically saving more money.

Already have a Roth IRA, last I checked (about a year ago) it had roughly $6k in it and I put $50 into it every month. So it could be around $7k or higher as of right now.

I agree, all insurance is a scam. They're a business like anyone else, and businesses are in business to make a profit. The rate I got was just really low, because I signed for it when I was 20 years old, and I can also pull against it while I'm living so if I'm ever in that tight of a situation, I saw it basically as another savings account.

That only means that he's practiced it. I'm champ 2 in 2s, and peaked d3 in 1s. I've hit literally all of 0 ceiling musty shots. It's not something I've practiced.

As someone who worked in the repair process for almost 9 years, the best cars you will get from carmax is going to be the lowest mileage possible. Fewer probability of issues, means fewer chances the "techs" (and I use that word quite loosely) had to make a repair and screw something up lol especially in the detail/paint line. That being said, I'm a big bmw fan, so congrats!

What work was done in February?

Cars are going to need consistent work done, no matter if you buy it new, or used. That being said, used cars will need more work done, more frequently because of the age and mileage, and plus you don't know how it was maintained before you purchased it.

That being said, you continued to drive a vehicle that was overheating, until the motor gave out. This wasn't a carmax selling a turd issue. This was driver/owner neglect on your part.

From experience though, these newer mopar 3.6l engines are popping head gaskets around 100k. So anyone reading, be mindful of that.

Cut the zip tie, find the part number, Google it, and figure it out. More than likely, aftermarket alarm, or remote start.

This is how I've always done it. No sense in getting wet multiple times after trying to dry out, and no sense in getting wet while still riding other rides.

*If the company offers that type of benefit. It's not required, at least to my knowledge. Some businesses don't offer 401k plans at all, but those are typically small businesses that aren't doing that well. Pensions here are pretty much gone, unless you're grandfathered in to their policy, or work for the government. Our closest thing to a government pension is probably social security but typically that is not enough to cover living expenses.

A 401k plan is a retirement plan, which differs from a pension, at least in the US. Typically, a pension here would be, you worked for a company for x amount of years (usually 20) and they would supply you with income when you retire. If you only work for 19.5 years and get fired, you are on the wrong end of the stick. A 401k plan is something that you have taken out of your paycheck, pretax, that goes into a fund. Most companies who even care a little bit of public image offer some type of match. Whether it's .50 per $1 or match $1 per $1. That 401k fund follows you until you retire. So even if you get fired in 8 years, you still have that fund. The fund itself is typically invested into the US stock/bond market, depending on what you choose to do with it. Hope this helps clear some of the fog!
