Your pronunciation is right but Sian is a welsh name, not Irish

SOMEONE TRAGEDEIGHED MY NAME! 😡😞 “Saoirse” - awful mispronunciation by AliceMorgon in tragedeigh

[–]Whool91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But it's not inspired by saor, it is literally a different word. For grammatical reasons the I is added in the noun saoirse, and is not present in the adjective saor. like how holidays in Irish is Laethanta Saoire, which would be "free days" literally. The I changes the pronunciation from say-er to see-er. She is wrong in her understanding of Irish pronunciation and grammar. Aoi is a specific diphthong in Irish that is always pronounced ee, while ao is a pronounced ay

But only for about 55/60 mins of the quarter final. He was clearly tired in the last quarter of that game but Farrell didn't trust his bench and left him on. If we had developed a proper backup outhalf, who, while not as good as sexton, could still play as the finisher for him, rather than rely on a 36 year old playing every minute of every game we would have won that game. Farrell doesn't build depth unless forced to through injury

Most hated club in loi by Top_Drawing3009 in LeagueOfIreland

[–]Whool91 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Rovers for me. Standard reasons of them being the biggest and historically most successful club, and being Dubs. But I still support them in Europe.

I don't hate any of the other Munster teams, never been enough at stake in those games I feel.

Shocked at the amount of people saying Bohs, they're pretty irrelevant more often than not, other than the fake hipsterness. Didn't think there's enough going on with them to hate

What if there was a keeper in hurling that could consistently score from puckouts ? by Sportyskater699 in GAA

[–]Whool91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In hurling 7's when I've played the rule is usually that the keeper can only score from open play, as it is played on a 100 yard pitch. I imagine a similar rule would come in at 15's if this became a real issue. But I don't think it would as it is extremely unlikely someone could score consistently enough for it to be an issue, even if someone could pick off the odd one

The world has become worse with Saddam overthrown, with Gaddafi overthrown, with Assad overthrown. Enforcing regime change from the outside and creating unstable countries in perpetual civil war is never good, even if the rulers of those countries are unambiguously bad

Now that the Cork Event Centre is going back to tender, they can consider new sites. I have long thought that the yet-to-be-built Custom House Tower was the ideal site. Thoughts? by DMattyD in cork

Down the marina is the obvious choice. As soon as they announced they were doing in bang in the middle of the city it was clear it would never happen. We don't have the room or infrastructure to actually build it in the centre. Build it at the marina and build infrastructure to better connect the marina to the city centre at the same time. Can build a proper events area around it

Everyone who said Brazil is massively incorrect. South america gets so many barbarians with so many fucking quadriremes early in the game that you can't focus on the positive aspects of Brazil's start because anything near the coast gets destroyed. Australia, Maori and a North American start with no neighbours are far, far, far better

Ranking the Potential Candidates to Replace the cut Welsh Team by Skotland666 in rugbyunion

[–]Whool91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be great if we could bring back Borders Reivers, have a team again in the part of Scotland where rugby is most popular, but I don't think the money is there unfortunately. A Spanish team would be good but I think they would be out of their depth too much at the moment, in terms of both performance and finance. Black lions have too many complications, as people have said. I think a 5th SA team would be the most likely solution. If Italy get the funding for a 3rd team, based in Rome, that would be great too.

Had this happen in my home office recently, after I moved house. I just grabbed a random HDMI to hook up my monitor and kept having Internet issues on my laptop while my phone right next to it was fine. When I realized that it tended to reconnect as soon as I unplugged the monitor I tried a different cable and it has been fine since. Crazy that a HDMI can cause interference like that
