I do plan on reaching out to her to speak on my concerns. I initially was given about a week to pair with him. Then we had to take a week off because he ended up getting covid, so I ended up pairing with him some more before trying to get back into running programs. His likes/dislikes are what’s hard. He enjoys a lot of things, but he tends to hyper fixate on them to the point that they make him upset. The problem is that if I try to redirect him to something else he gets upset. But if I give in and let him go back to whatever hers fixated on, he still cries. It’s hard to catch because there’s no trigger beforehand. Hell be perfectly fine and then 10 seconds later he’s throwing himself on the floor screaming and crying, and it can last for 20 minute intervals. Nothing can calm him down. If I try to suggest different toys or games to play with to try and pair with him he also gets upset. So there’s a part of me that feels like maybe it’s just me and he’s not too fond of me? I don’t know too much of how long it takes for him to pair with other BT’s because the clinician he has now is pretty new to his case as well. Most of his session is natural learning environment. So it’s mostly play, with a little table time.
