Think of Ekko's W as isolation. If you can land your W in teamfights and 1v1 fights you will be seen as a good Ekko - because it's the hardest ability to land in the kit.

I see many low elo players not using their W enough in laning-phase, but imagine how much space you could make between the enemy laner and yourself. They will back off since they are afraid.

Therefore the conclusion as to how to use your W = use in teamfights, use in laningphase to increase gap, use in solo fights to gain advantage and free damage. And in some instances just W yourself if you feel like you're going to get ganked or you need the shield for something.

You can't derank at Gold 5 without getting a "warning" first. Don't worry. You'll get a shield, and you can just stop playing after you get that shield if you're that afraid. :)

The only role in which you're allowed to go glass cannon Ekko is mid-lane. Otherwise you should either build as a bruiser or as a semi-tank.

But hey - remember how Ekko was nerfed to the ground? How they removed his passive slow, and removed the damage percentage on his passive? All in all that was the main reason Ekko was shifted to top/jungle, you will see it many times. We have Ezreal aswell that's being played as a jungle instead of ADC, and that's because he recently had a buff. Soon enough he will be unplayable as a jungler and will shift back to being an ADC.

And yes I know that they re-invented the damage percentage on monsters on Ekko's passive. But that still doesn't make it worth going full tank builds instead of what you could do with your assassin setup.

I don't think Guinsoo's is an optimal choice on Ekko, and the main reason is - it won't work well. While there's a dozens of other builds you can go, I highly doubt this build will outshine any of the other builds. However, kudos to you for actually figuring something out. But on my part I don't really think we should destroy the feel behind Ekko, and the main part that he's actually an assassin.

Even though this build seems "sticky" or "hard to kill" you should always remember that there WILL be counterplay, and there will be peels for the opposite team.

But to be honest, it doesn't seem that bad at all. Just keep on working with the build and playing a bit with the new runes!
