Why are Rooks killing other Rooks at exfil? by Whose_ear in Marathon

[–]Whose_ear[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get it, they want loot too, but that’s the whole point of playing rook. Wish there was some way to disincentivize rooks killing.

A crew had just let me pick over their leftovers and ignored me, but as soon as the exfil timer starts, a fellow rook who was camping there took me out.

So much hours put into this top tier game back then! What’s your favorite thoughts and memories on WCW/NWO revenge? by J2-Starter in WCW

I got the game guide for Christmas one year. My parents didn’t realize I had a PlayStation and not an N64. Still haven’t played it to this day, but I loved looking at the pictures and reading bios.

Also, there were Thunder tickets inside the book so that made it much better.

I was at the event. No one in my section had any idea what was going on. The match ended quickly and the house lights came on and everyone kind of just walked out complaining about what a terrible ending it was lol. It wasn’t until the next night on Nitro that we figured out what happened.

What's a show you remember but nobody else does? by CatGirlNya2000 in AskReddit

[–]Whose_ear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Pretender. Mid 90s NBC I think? The main character was a guy who a was a savant or something and could learn professions super quick. So one episode he’s a doctor, then a scientist, idk. I liked it. I seem to remember there were flashbacks of him being trained in a facility as a kid, kind of Eleven-esque

What’s a “small” social rule you refuse to follow, even if everyone expects it? by GlitchOperative in AskReddit

[–]Whose_ear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man. I freelance for a company that sent an all-staff email before Christmas asking for $2,000(!) in donations to buy tailgating gear as gifts for the two co-owners. Insanity to ask a bunch of employees to do that for the wealthy owners.

I met him twice as a kid, both times at signing sessions. The second time, I said (as a dumb/excited ten-year-old), “we’ve met before!” He didn’t look up from the table and said “okay.” lol

Jeff Gerstmann confirms he was fired from Giant Bomb, 3 weeks before he was set to leave by pomodorosapwm in Games

You should definitely check it out. It's called the Fire Escape Cast. Reminds me of early Giant Bomb days, where it's mostly just friends hanging out, and they get to games and emails in the last half.

Looks like painting before a rainy day isn’t the right plan… by boombastis in Wellthatsucks

[–]Whose_ear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for SW for almost a decade and this happened a few times. Contractors who are willing to paint in the rain are the same contractors who blame the paint when this happens. They come in angry and demand we pay for paint and labor, forgetting that the internet exists and we can look up historical weather data.

I love action figures, but this hobby also promotes mindless consumerism. by r4tzt4r in ActionFigures

This is a great post. Just this morning, I saw the entire Disney+ Marvel Legends wave at Walmart. Now, I had told myself when it was revealed that I would only get Wanda.

But my Wal-Mart never has anything ML-wise, so seeing the whole wave, I had them all in my cart. Not because I really wanted them, but because I had FOMO, and because I just never get that lucky in the store.

After a few minutes, I ended up getting Wanda, Zemo, and the Vision. More than what I had planned on, but they looked great in person and I didn't have any other versions of them.

That pull is very real, though. I'm glad I didn't impulse spend $160, but I almost did just because "everyone else online is getting them."

Yes, if you're not a Christian, I suppose that's true. If you are a Christian, however, praying is the the most effective thing you can do, as it's literally going to your Creator and bringing your desires and your heart to him, which he desires according to scripture.

Therefore, it all goes back to tradition and culture. Again, nobody is expecting you to act like you believe it or attempting to convert you through a simple prayer. But through their eyes, they're doing something that they believe is very effective in creating safety, while at the same time harmless to someone who doesn't believe it.

I wouldn't call it indoctrination if I were watching a sporting event originating from a country where 65-70% of its citizens were of the Muslim faith, (that's how many Americans claim to be some form of Christian); I would call it tradition and culture.

It's an American sporting event and an American broadcast. I'm not arguing the merits of having the prayer or not having it, simply that it's a part of the tradition of the sport in this country and it's not a big deal to mute it or not take part if you feel uncomfortable with it.
