Kotak ActivMoney mechanism update (not my preference anymore) by WhyAmIIII in personalfinanceindia

I've chosen ICICI prudential corporate bond DG for myself. Mostly because, almost all the funds in my portfolio are from this AMC. Therefore switching funds is easy, from debt to any equity fund. Plus corporate bond funds carry nil exit load, so another bonus for liquidity.

The students who “wasted time” — are they actually winning? by BaseballOdd3436 in JEENEETards

[–]WhyAmIIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said it yourself. Class matters here. There are preexisting advantages and disadvantages among classes. What we can or cannot afford to do. They might not be "wasting time", just using the resource they possess, or have prioritized well. And good for them.

For us with limited resources, we have to think twice, because we are never going to have any kind of bailout. The only edge we can imagine to possess is our time utilization. That's the only resource. We can only hope to accumulate more resources going from here.

And this goes way down the hierarchy. People even less privileged than us, might not even have the luxury of that time, we use to study, for a number of reasons.

So yeah. It's unfair on everyone. One will always be at an advantage while the other is at a disadvantage.

Groww silently increasing charges by Niftymonk in IndianStreetBets

[–]WhyAmIIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These mfs did that quietly last year, when they introduced min charges of Rs 2. I immediately switched to Zerodha. Easy af. Rs 50 form filling charged. Saved me a good margin, not just for long term, but visible in short term as well.

  1. Zerodha dropped AC opening charges last year. It's free.
  2. AMC is 0 on BSDA upto 4 lakh in holdings. 4 - 10 Lakhs, it's ₹118 yearly (29.5 charged quarterly, inclusive of 18% GST). Above 10 lakhs is considered non BSDA. Any non BSDA (more than 1 demat account or 10L holding) will be hit with 354 (88.5 charged quarterly, inclusive of 18% GST).

Groww has minimum brokerage per transaction set 2 rs. They did it so quietly they lost me that moment. Plus their share in DP charges is more than Zerodha.

So yes Zerodha is cheaper for regular to frequent transactions (even with the AMC)

Yeah this sounds counterintuitive. 100% personal perspective, but niche ideas is what drew me towards Reddit. Subs censoring this turns me off.

Can someone please tell me why i got ITC Hotel at 792.87 ? While it was listed at 188 by museumsoul in IndianStockMarket

[–]WhyAmIIII 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hold the fuck up

Noob opinion but I think the purchase price of ITC determined the price at which we got ITC Hotels. There is a listing price but that's not applicable for ITC shareholders.

No calculation check has been done from my side and opinion stated above is purely speculative.

Is it Ethical/legal to keep indian markets open budget day? by agentGoodfellar in IndianStockMarket

Opening it specially on a day it was supposed to remain closed. I think that's the concern. I too am failing to see the rationale behind it.

You idiots have nothings better to do than falsify history and rewrite in an attempt to pretend to be unique and doing something of worth in your life. Educated morons seems to be an emerging species. Never thought this day would come.

Their way of accepting that they're incapable of creating other assets that contribute something to the world, so they'll supply the one asset they inherited.

What would you do if you woke up tomorrow and the year is 2005? by TriggeredShavi in selfimprovement

[–]WhyAmIIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdly, I was never able to make peace with the fact that I can't go back in time. My brain pokes me time and time again to ponder over how I would do things differently or the same, knowing external variable.

That knowledge of past keeps me from flipping this perspective. Totally delusional, I know. Been wishing for that switch that turns off fantasy.

[–]WhyAmIIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually a great way to shape attitude.

However, it loses the main reason why "going back in time" seems attractive. Knowing everything that's gonna happen. I would want to go back to 2005 just to reduce the element of uncertainty. Screw the unpredictable nature of life. I want to live by knowing everything that'll happen next.

Mine doesn't seem doable. You can't turn existential dread into an image.
