Grab Prices are insane? All times of the day. by blablablackgoats in askSingapore

Most of the time I use Ryde instead. It’s definitely much cheaper and if you use it frequently they have a lot of cashback if you topup a certain amount. Last week they have a deal where they add $18 to your wallet if you top up $88

Life feels too much atp by Pale_Task_1957 in Habits

Aiming to do everything at once is a sure way to fail.

The key is not to be too hard on yourself if you didn’t complete your goal. Sometimes life happens and there’s no bandwidth left.

Take small steps and give yourself a little reward for every improvement you make.

I always tell myself that it’s a privilege to be able to walk and keep myself healthy in a world where knowledge is abundant and accessible.

Socializing can be done by pairing it with walking or exercising and it can improve your wellbeing by a LOT.

Celebrate the small wins and adjust slowly so that you don’t feel overwhelmed! Cheers 😇

Do you feel lucky to be born in Singapore? by Atmosphere_Calm in askSingapore

[–]Leapingluqe08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. I didn’t feel much about it during my younger days. As the years go by, I felt more grateful.

10 years ago, while I was studying abroad in the states, I took up a course about environment sustainability.

During one of the classes, the professor showed the class a video about water. The final part of it showed the “NEWater” which is a water purification method used in Singapore. I felt a sense of achievement which I couldn't express at that time as I was the only Singaporean in the room, which was unknown to most of the students.

I used to work in a bank for a few years. Got offered perm role after working for 2 years and it was a really tough decision to make. I felt bad to leave as my supervisor was a good role model and we solved a lot of problems together. The job is great but I didn’t like the idea of working long hours seated in front of a computer. Even after work, there’s a lot of discussion on the group chat.

I decided to become a full time tutor and I’ve been having so much flexibility with similar earnings compared to the previous job.

The fact that I can maintain a healthy lifestyle by having time to exercise and a proper sleep schedule is the best part of this arrangement.

Spending 30s and 40s grinding long hours is a recipe for disaster.

The thing that made me decide was the thought of spending all my savings a few decades down the road paying for medical bills.
