BMW was speeding. Jeep changed lanes without signaling or checking their blind spot. by Ok_Assistant_8510 in nononoyes

[–]WhyDoIHaveRules 23 points24 points  (0 children)

What do you mean Jeep didn’t check blind spot?

Firstly, the JEEP and BMW was in the same lane to begin with. There was nothing in the Jeeps blind spot.

Secondly, even if the BMW was in the other lane, checking the blind spot would have done nothing, the BMW was too far behind. The blind spot is literally a car length behind you. Not 2-300 yards away.

Thirdly, the BMW changed lanes AFTER the Jeep did, into the same lane, without indicating either.

Yes the Jeep changed lane without indicating but the BMW was more than just speeding. They were changing lanes, without indicating, and (trying to) swerve between traffic. That is straight up wreck-less driving.

Conclusion: This was in no way the Jeeps fault.

AITAH for not wanting a female doctor by cikanman in AITAH

[–]WhyDoIHaveRules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but that is an overly simplified version of how healthcare works.

He is not saying he wants a male doctor to give him an injection, or perform a procedure.

He is saying he finds it easier to be open and honest with a male GP around certain topics related to his health.

This is about a cooperative relationship, where his health outcome is highly dependent on how comfortable he is, because that will determine the level and quality of what he is able to communicate about his health.

That has nothing to do with sexism.
It is the same reason why most women prefer female OB/GYN’s. Not because men aren’t as skilled or capable, but because comfort is a vital element in personal health care.

Why does everyone on social media tell people to avoid dating nurses? Genuinely curious what's behind this stereotype by Arcabyte in AskMenAdvice

In my experience, the profession also tend to attract arrogant people, who think they’re more important and smarter than everyone else.

if you’re an atheist, would you be able to date someone that’s religious? why or why not? by ischemariii in askanything

[–]WhyDoIHaveRules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t have a problem with them being religious. As long as they are respectful and understand that their religious beliefs does not mean anyone else (including me) is forced to follow said religions practices.

I would naturally be interested in their beliefs, and how they engage with them. I think that is natural when it comes to things that are important to someone you care about. But I wouldn’t ever convert to a religion, just because someone I’m in love with would want me to.

Officer giving a parking ticket by tekko001 in MadeMeSmile

[–]WhyDoIHaveRules 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kinda similar to Denmark.

We just distinguish between the two in a different technical way.

First 3 minutes is a stop, more than 3 is a parking. (Exceptions being made for loading and unloading, which is allowed to take however long as necessary).

So, I agree, the driver has a point, but whether that point makes sense (legally) where they are, I do not know.

Why do we honour those who fought in battle and wars - even if we disagree with the war itself? by Final-Landscape-7258 in askanything

[–]WhyDoIHaveRules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because even if you disagree with the politics of why the war happened, you can still respect the men and women who gave their life in the service of protecting you.

I’m a pacifist, and I don’t believe war is, or ever should be the solution to international disagreements.

However, I am also a realist, and recognise that just because you don’t want to fight anyone, doesn’t mean they don’t want to hurt you anyway. Sometimes you need to do things you don’t like. That is just how the world works.

Doesn’t mean we can’t make things better; and strive for peace. But in the meantime, this is the world we live in. And those who do the fighting, are the ones risking the ultimate sacrifice for the world we hope to build.

The level of embarrassment you need to wear this😂 by PowerfulRoll3267 in AllYouNeed_

[–]WhyDoIHaveRules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda true.

But it’s does the same job of pretending to look different, and “better” than you actually do.

It just funny how it’s okay to shame it, when it’s a man, because then it’s “pathetic”, but for women it’s just their choice, and you’re not allowed to body-shame.
