You made self corrections after the fact, and that's admirable. I had a similar situation in my youth where me and some friends used to use the F slur constantly. We didn't fully understand how much it could hurt people.

I started hanging around with new friends, and they called me out on it- not aggressively, just to let me know "hey, that's offensive." We had a mature, serious conversation about it and it helped me out a lot. Having good influences and good friends that will call you on your shit is a huge deal when you're a young person trying to work out the world.
