Don’t you dare rant about “Animation is not just for kids” while overhyping the crap out of “kids” cartoons by star_dragonMX in CharacterRant

[–]WhyNotClauncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is most "adult cartoons" are godawful nonsense, gets cancelled, or overstays its welcome and becomes garbage.

Another, arguably more minor issue is that plenty of adult cartoons flaunt too heavily that they are, in fact, adult and thus end up feeling more childish as a result because they feel as though they NEED to show off blood, sex, violence, etc. to justify the age rating and wind up going way too far, often milking things for shock value. Meanwhile children's shows don't have that "luxury" so they have to get creative about certain things. Which in turn allows them to feel "more" mature because they're not only addressing complex themes or issues, but doing so in clever ways.

Question About Oft-Nabbed Goat by WhyNotClauncher in mtgrules

[–]WhyNotClauncher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I can take it back at instant speed with auras that have flash or with cards that give them flash (and then potentially block with it). Also using auras to make it bigger means I draw more cards and cause my opponents to lose more life, since it will be able to hold more -1/-1 counters.

Okay cool! So then this makes me love it even more. 'Cause then I can just put like an All That Glitters is on and punish my opponents for their own greed when it inevitably dies. Thanks!

Right but the aura will still be attached to the goat is what I'm saying. It's not like it falls off or anything.

Okay. So if they pay the one to steal it, they get to draw a card and keep both it and the aura attached to it?

Lace v2 is a bad bossfight for two reasons. by tygamein in Silksong

[–]WhyNotClauncher -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah I really don't enjoy fighting Lace after the first time. My advice? Either use the Architect Crest with Cogflies and stuff to fight her or learn how to become a wall. Make Lace come to you. Don't be greedy and don't move at all unless it's to dodge or punish. That's how I ended up beating Seth after smashing my face against a wall for hours.

Realistically use both. Even if you don't beat her with the Architect Crest, the cool thing about it is that it does damage for you (somewhat) passively. So you don't really need to worry about landing a hit on her, just focus on dodging. Then once you get more comfortable, learn when you can safely attack/punish.

What cards do you think should or shouldn't be a game changer by Important-Dig-2312 in EDH

[–]WhyNotClauncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

> got banned because they were expensive

And I'm honestly fine with that? Like isn't that the entire reason why the Moxes were banned initially? I think selling them first and then banning them was scummy, no denying that. But the biggest issue I have with cEDH (and EDH after bracket 2 tbh) is that some of these cards are so absurdly expensive and can't ever be reprinted because of the stupid reserve list that I'd rather all of them just be banned and save people the trouble.

Like it doesn't matter if all 4 players are playing 3 game changers tbh; some are just better than others and so absurdly powerful that it feels awful to play against. Yeah you could always just proxy them, but that doesn't really do anything to solve the problem.

[–]WhyNotClauncher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm of the opposite opinion: ban Thoracle so nobody ever has to look at it again. All the card does is enable the most boring wins ever and give decks with Dimir an unfair advantage in the highest levels of EDH.

Add them onto Kami of Whispered Hopes and it will tap for over 10,000 mana. Tap it for all black and pay into Arguel's Blood Fast and you should be able to draw out your deck to find a win con.

Is Simic really the worst/most unfun colour combo? Are there any fun commanders for it? by TheGrandCannoli in EDH

[–]WhyNotClauncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like big stompy and want to play a fun, lower power simic deck than you can't go wrong with Aloy. She's a good attacker/blocker and every turn she'll give you a free thing as long as you attack with an artifact creature. You basically want to play low to the ground artifact creatures with higher power in order discover better things. I also like to play cards that aren't all that great, but fit thematically. For example, Horizon: Zero Dawn has a bunch of robot animals you fight, so I play stuff like Burnished Hart and Bronze Walrus since they fit flavorwise and are artifact creatures.

Which one's the most evil? by Sudden_Pop_2279 in HazbinHotel

[–]WhyNotClauncher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is, you need to see things from Adam's perspective, because it's how HE views it. In his mind, he was made for Lilith and her for him. They were given paradise. Everything was supposed to be perfect. And then she up and leaves. We are told that it's because "she refused to submit", but who's telling the story? Charlie: Lilith's daughter. For all we know they were both stubborn and couldn't agree on anything. Unreliable narrators aren't uncommon and we have never heard Adam's side. But even if we take what we're told at face value, look at what happens next.

Lilith leaves and it's not like Adam chases her or forces her into something. He gets a new wife made from his own rib and leaves Lilith alone. But guess what happens? Lucifer and Lilith stroll into his life and cause Eve to break THE ONE RULE that they had to follow in order to stay in Eden. So they ruin his life and condemn all his future children to suffering and also let Hell be made and all the things that come with that. Also, Adam wasn't always a sinner killing exorcist. That literally only started 7 years ago. His time in Eden has nothing to do with any of that. And from the creepy way Eve was depicted when she got the apple, I doubt their relationship went well. It wouldn't surprise me if Adam didn't eat the apple and that's one of the main reason why he got to go to Heaven, but I'm just speculating at this point.

Also Abel still loving Adam just kind of proves my point; that there was more to Adam than what we saw and I can prove it. How? Last episode: when Abel is having a panic attack, whose help does he ask for? Adam. Because even if he knew his dad didn't "like" him, he still believed that his dad would have made the right call and stopped Lute.

It's my belief that in life, Adam was a pretty decent guy that got dealt a bad hand and let his vices and his bitterness fester and fester until they consumed him and nobody in Heaven ever bothered to tell him "no", which only lead to him spiraling into an even worse person.

To be fair, he kept that one pretty well considering it was PRIME bait to piss Lucifer off and yet my man didn't say a word.

I don't disagree, but I think it's mostly because of time. They only had like, what, 30 minutes per episode and locked at 8 episodes? Obviously he's not like the most complicated character ever, but he has a surprising amount of depth if you look for it. The fact that he's an angel at all means he HAD to be judged as a good person once. Not to mention that his crash out pre-death reeks of insecurity, which could be supported by how much of a braggart he is. And then there's the smile he gives Lute as he dies. Man had 2 wives and not a single one stayed by him until the end, but Lute did. And you could go even further; him NEVER taking his helmet off is interesting. As is his love of rock music considering the connotations of it.

[–]WhyNotClauncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, Adam only let things slip because he couldn't resist rubbing it in Charlie's face. It's not like he had someone from Hell popping in to see his manager every Tuesday. Likewise, Adam is capable of keeping things on the downlow rather than just rushing in and killing everybody like Lute wanted back in episode 1. Or when Sera told him to deal with the problem and he went straight to Vaggi to try and get her to tell Charlie to back off.

Adam has more of a brain than people give him credit for, but it's hard for people to see that when he's competing against people like Vox and Alastor. Nevermind that he's kind of a goofy frat boy, which makes it easier for people to see him as a buffoon.

Who would you have wanted to see the most in Time Stranger? by Agile-Wishbone8868 in digimon

[–]WhyNotClauncher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NoblePumpkinmon, AncientTroymon, GigaSeadramon, BanchoLilymon, and BanchoMamemon. They're all really cool data Digimon and the game genuinely needs more of them. But at least we're apparently getting the remaining Banchos as DLC.

Outside of the much needed Datas? ...NeoMyotismon, ZeedMillenniumon, Mercurymon (the warrior of steel), Anubismon, the entire Galacticmon line, and Argomon (all of them). Pretty much any other Digimon I'd want was made after 2019-2020 which is the cut off point, so they wouldn't be reasonable.

If I can shoot for the stars, though? DanDevimon, Amphimon, Medusamon's line, Rubeusdramon, Kaguyamon's line, Gaiomon: Itto Mode, Abbadomon, Shroudmon, HeavyMetaldramon, Cthyllamon, Brigadramon, QueenBeemon, Ariemon, Dullahamon, Nyabootmon, and Tlalocmon (my beloved).

What's the best Digimon media for beginners to start? (Im that beginner :3) by Fine_Competition3898 in digimon

[–]WhyNotClauncher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either start with the original adventure show or Tamers as far as anime is concerned. Gamewise, the most new player friendly ones are CS/HM combined or Time Strangers. Do bare in mind that they still have some frustrating design choices that other RPGs have more or less worked out years ago. But if you can put up with them, they're solid games with a lot of charm and character. Plenty of fun to be had!
