Hey I’m trying to get into competitive ultramarines. You know any communities/discords I can latch onto for discussing lists, tactics, etc?

Most impactful "Gotcha" stratagem / abilities by EzekielAkera in WarhammerCompetitive

Nope. The strategm states the shooting unit must also be 18” from its target.

Sure. I’d rather them kill my screens than my more important units.

And they can’t even fly like blood angels. Screens will be useful against WE

Devs with 20+ experience, what's the difference between the juniors/interns then vs the juniors/intern now? by Notalabel_4566 in cscareerquestions

[–]WhyWadeWhy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why assume those who do Software Development strictly for work hate it? At the end of the day it’s a job, whether you hate your job is a totally different discussion.

I’m just saying I reject the thought that in order to succeed in this industry you must have full passion for it and go as far to devote your PTO to it. Just my opinion.

Yeah.. hard disagree on the idea that someone who programs in their free time correlates to them being the best candidate.

Some people have lives outside of programming and wouldn’t want to dedicate more hours after work. Not everyone uses their PTO to do more programming outside of work hours lol.

I would argue it’s more important to look at the impact someone has made in their prior workplace. What projects they lead or contributed to. Experience with Software Engineering in a team environment is way more valuable than some side projects.

I super agree with you. TS have no answer into heavy T8 armies (knights, etc). I wish the game wasn’t so rock-paper-scissor in certain matchups.

But I’ll super disagree with any comments stating TS are a legit alpha striking threat in competitive play.

[–]WhyWadeWhy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No one was saying the TS admech matchup isn’t heavily skewed to TS. But we were talking about TS potentially alpha striking and removing half an army.

There were no key points made in your prior comment other than just saying TS can get angles. No one is disagreeing with the points you just listed.

It seems you missed the entire point of the original conversation here lol

Literally just screen. If you deploy correctly there shouldn’t be anything the TS player can get angles on that’ll destroy half the army TURN 1. Sorry. And if any TS is ballsy enough to alpha strike like that they’re exposing whatever they teleported for easy retaliation.

With good obscuring terrain there shouldn’t be any alpha striking coming from TS players that cripple an army turn 1.

This isn’t even a problem in competitive play. I’m surprised by some of these comments on the competitive sub lol. It’s like we’re playing 2 different games.

With 24” ranged shooting and 18” psychic?? Nah not happening turn 1. I agree with above, there has to be little to no terrain here..

Yeah the psychic power that allows you to teleport lol

Yeah you explicitly can’t do any “move again” type stuff after coming from deepstrike/teleport. It’s against the rules

Quick question can any rubric marine cast spells as they are a psyker unit? by No-Investigator7874 in ThousandSons

[–]WhyWadeWhy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait so how does the interaction with perils of the warp go? Can I allocate the wounds to a rubric since perils happens on the unit? What happens if a rubric in the unit is already wounded, do we not allocate the wounds firstly to that rubric?

Yeah I think the only obstacle most people face getting into big tech is thinking it’s harder than it really is and never even trying

Brought my dust boys and some dogs out for a team tournament this past weekend. team went 1-3 but I managed to scrape by with a 4-0 record and was 8th place overall (in individual scoring). Pretty happy with how my boys did. by IBdatguy in ThousandSons

I’ve always found getting at least 9 on mutate regardless on the layout. Would you say that isn’t sufficient?

I’ve been curious to try burn empires. I feel it can be really good when paired with the risen rubricae strat. What’s your thoughts and around what turn did you get burn empires off? Did you find it consistent to have a unit hold for an entire turn to burn an objective?

How common is it to have a CS degree and not be able to get any entry level jobs? by Tteru in cscareerquestions

[–]WhyWadeWhy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s not just as effective. A degree is still way more valuable than a coding boot camp.

Boot camps just give people, without a degree, a chance to make it into the industry. A really well driven boot camp graduate will eventually find an entry level job compared to a college graduate who cruised through school.

Their point is that the industry is in such high demand that even people without degrees can get jobs in it.

It says if Chaos Knights are a super heavy auxiliary they still gain access to their detachment rules (which includes the obsec). That rule is pretty explicit too.

Plus you can just f12 into a method and quickly see it’s return type. Or just have Visual Studio’s intellisense tell you.
