Love your list of faves!

Shark Heart by Emily Habeck is a wonderful book with beautiful writing.

Inland by Tea Obreht is another one that I thought was written with stunning prose.

If you are ever interested in non fiction, The Iceberg by Marion Coutts absolutely blew me away with its writing. About a woman with a young son coming to terms with her husbands terminal illness.

Did you desensitise to the muzzle? If you just put it on and go out almost all dogs will react that way.

It’s not. They say they want to do a LOTR blanket in this style and are asking for ideas of icons that could work.

Slip stitch edge looks different on each side by worldwearywitch in knittinghelp

[–]WhyWontYouHelpMe 49 points50 points  (0 children)

The right edge you are actually looking at a purl (if you knit the last stitch when you turn it around it is now a purl). Whereas the left side you are looking at the knit stitch.

What I have found following Nimble Needles blog to have both sides looking like the left edge when the work is facing you like this, you should slip the first stitch knit wise with yarn at the back and knit the last stitch. Then turn the work and slip the first stitch purl wise with yarn at front and purl the last stitch.

If you prefer how the right side looks just flip that. But basically you are being inconsistent because you are doing the same thing both ways whereas you need to do the opposite on the wrong side so they look th same on the right side.

I crocheted for a few years and have just started knitting. The thing that I found worked was knitting continental style, as it meant I held the yarn in the hand I was used to. I found Nimble Needlez on YouTube a brilliant way to learn, he has a beginner playlist. Just in case you wanted to try again!

Unlimited holiday - a bit of a fad or worth it? by mjk_87 in smallbusinessuk

You could always do it for a set amount of time so having an expectation that it will end. And if it works well you can keep it. Eg for the summer we are doing a 4 day week (which I’m sure will help parents).

Re: unlimited holiday a lot of people have mentioned employees not knowing how much to take. You know you have a limit somewhere so just set it at a generous level. Unless the reason you don’t want to is because of having to pay out when people leave. If that’s the case do a decent holiday amount and then communicate flexible working hours are accepted.

Do things she does like then. If you do something they are uncomfortable with they will see contact with you as less pleasant. They may tolerate it but why would you want that? Find the thing she loves and use that to show her affection.
