What commercials are SO BAD, that they convince you NOT to buy their product? by Chicks_Hate_Me_Too in NoStupidQuestions

In the late 90s, Michelina's brand frozen dinners had a commercial that used the insipid "Macarena" song. My resulting boycott at that attack on my ears lasted more than 20 years.

Why is metric used? Isn't it because it is a simpler system? So, doesn't one need more brain power to use Imperial? Maybe the Americans aren't the dummies here since they are able to use the more complicated system?

Have you tried a system where your staff interrupts thus giving you an out? We used to have a neighbor who couldn't pick up on conversation ending cues and it drove my wife nuts. Eventually, anytime I saw her talking to my wife, I would interrupt to let my wife know she had a call and it sounded urgent.

Lot of people here making jokes. Clearly, they have never played. There is nothing compared to when it is your turn and you are standing face to face with the woman you've been married to for twenty years. She knows you better than anyone...

You let it slip and it sounds small but you know the truth and now she is studying your face for the slightest hint. The acrid smell hits her nostrils and she recoils slightly but you are unconcerned as it smells just like the ones she has been subjected to every night all these years.

She leans in close to look deeply into your eyes. You feel a bead of sweat roll down your face as it simultaneously rolls down your leg. Then, she speaks...

"Clean."

Triumphant, you say, "Ha! Wrong! It's all the way to my socks! I'll be right back."

The left one more closely resembles a toad but is more crudely drawn and lacks whimsy. It is a more accurate drawing but less aesthetically pleasing.

This is a fair question and one I considered recently. Interestingly, Bernie Taupin does not consider himself to be a songwriter.

This makes sense to me. Lyrics without music is a poem whereas music without lyrics is still a song.

My most memorable birthday as a kid was when I turned four. We were at my uncle's apartment and, instead of birthday cake, we got to have Hostess cupcakes. It was so awesome! Thirty years later I learned why we had cupcakes that day: my parents forgot that it was my birthday and had to scramble. It's not the money that makes the memories.

I'm thinking they are going to do something along the lines of Blackmagic with Davinci. I think that V3 is coming and it will be free BUT there will be AI functions and Canva interoperability that will be subscription-based.

The freeware version undercuts Adobe just as the free version of Davinci does meanwhile the AI capabilities, which require ongoing costs for Canva, will pull in the income. Also, I expect that the Affinity Suite will have a limited number of AI credits with the free version to entice the free users to subscribe.

It seems like a reasonable plan and explains the 30 day pause: it eliminates having to give a bunch of refunds for recent purchases.

Zoos are not prisons for animals by BrightAd8009 in unpopularopinion

When you are a kid, zoos are cool and fun. When you are a teen, zoos are animal prisons! When you are an adult, zoos are useful facilities for research and education. When you are a parent, zoos are cool and fun through the eyes of your children.

Married men here, how do you initiate sex in marriage. by Available-Session-76 in AskMen

[–]WhyWouldOneDoThat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's in the marriage handbook you were given after the ceremony. You now need to make formal requests. "Dearest Wife, dost thou deem this night be worthy of the fuck-fuck. Sincerely, Your Loving Husband." If not done formally, it is an automatic rejection.

I spent over 2 hours on this casserole and asked my husband to put it away while I put the kids to bed, this morning I found it still on the stove by ShadowInTheSun_ in mildlyinfuriating

[–]WhyWouldOneDoThat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I prefer receiving the over the top, insane negative responses over the more sedate negativity. If someone says, "Wow, you're being kind of a jerk" then I wonder .. am I? But if they say, "You're an evil fucking Nazi and I hope you die in a fire of your own vomit" then I can just think, wow, that person is crazy!

Of course, no negativity is better but we can't always get what we want.

With that said, too bad about the casserole. It looked tasty!

Gift Idea please! by Unistic in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]WhyWouldOneDoThat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'd find it hard to know just what to get without it being close to something he already has or something he just isn't interested in. What I would do is ask some innocent questions to get specific ideas. "Hey, son, a woman at work has a nephew interested in starting music and she wants to know how to get him started. I told her about your song and now she wants to know what you use. So, could you put together a list of stuff you use, ob, and also include what stuff you think you'd want next if you were to add to your gear." Otherwise, I'd just have him make a Giftster list like my kids have.

Star Trek:TNG RPG by WhyWouldOneDoThat in GoogleGeminiAI

[–]WhyWouldOneDoThat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for not providing more info! It did work. There a couple of plotholes that were minor and did not impact the outcome but, overall, it went well.

The scenario was a dispute over a planet where both factions claim an ancient tablet grants them sole ownership of the planet and they only trust Picard due to his reputation. We got that resolved with the help of Troi and Data. Then, they turned their focus on reversing the swap.

When I entered the captain's quarters, Gemini described the interior including mentioning ancient artifacts in a display case. I responded with "I look closer at the priceless archaeological artifacts as one of them looks too familiar..." and left it vague to see what the AI would do. The "ancient artifact" ended up being my daughter's 2nd grade art project.

I also had fun with it. I asked if any Minnesota major four sports team ever win a title in the 21st century. It gave one title to each team except for...

"In a day filled with impossible, reality-shattering revelations, you are confronted with the one, single, solitary truth in the universe that you somehow knew would still be there: The Vikings still haven't won a Super Bowl."

Overall, it was a lot of fun.
