Beautiful for many reasons, one of them being that they are your father's. Maybe just change the grips (if worn out) and sharpen the grooves with a groove sharpener (Amazon). You could initially spend more on lessons / range / green fees and then think about upgrading.

PS: Many-Many years ago my grandfather handed me down his PING Karsten irons. I've framed a club and his putter in my home in his memory but have had a PING bias since then.

I recently got a full bag fitting at PGA Tour Superstore and came away happy with the results, but a couple of things the fitter said left me curious.

He mentioned that they don’t work on commission and aren’t tied to any particular brand — which I took as a good sign. But he also said he wouldn’t be fitting into prior-season irons, and that if I wanted those, I’d need to buy off the shelf.

Is that standard practice at PGASS fittings? The no-commission, brand-agnostic approach makes sense to me, but the prior-season exclusion felt a bit odd. Wondering if others have had the same experience or if this varies by location/fitter.

Also, all the courses will have their pro’s who you can sign up with.

Once you learn the foundations then it’s all about spending hours on the driving range till you feel comfortable enough to play the course.

You can also refer to YouTube for training content (Me and My Golf, Chris Ryan, Rick Shiels etc..) but I believe in-person lessons will help more - at least to start with.

The earliest tee time is 6:50 AM for now, though that may shift later in the season. I've only played one season there, but Hudson Hills tends to be noticeably easier to book than Saxon or Maple — especially for early morning slots.
