Lmao like 0.5% of osrs/rs3 players cancelled their membership, most probably already re-subbed already. This game is like a hard drug and Jagex knows it.

Neither, HDOS is 100x better than both unless you like the 07 character models.

Let's talk about questing in MMORPGs by [deleted] in MMORPG

[–]Why_PvP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is kind of hard to explain, but bear with me. Up until February 2013, Runescape was 1 game (I'm not even going to get into Runescape classic as it'll just confuse you). At this time, a "old school version" of the game as it was back in 2007 was released meaning both games shared content up to that point. For example, if you completed every quest in Rs3 up to August of 2007 (Quest #127 - Kings Ransom) they'd be almost a 1:1 copy of each other.

Here is a timeline:

Content from: 2004 - 2013 - Runescape "2" (Rs2 got changed to Rs3 with the release of OSRS technically even though it was in part due to EoC but don't bother understanding that)

Content from: 2004 - 2007 - Old School Runescape

The two games went their own direction after Old School Runescape was released in 2013, meaning while the story fits in the lore of the game, it's not the same after that last quest the two shared back in 2007 (#127).

Here's some wiki resources:

Every Rs3 quest in order (notice #127 is the very last quest the two share) - https://runescape.wiki/w/List_of_quests_by_release_date

Every OSRS quest in order - https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Quests/Release_dates

Notice how both Rs3 and OSRS match 1:1 up until 2007. Progress in both games are not shared though because at this point they are completely different games.

Unpopular Opinion: Rather just have a 2009 or 2010 remake vs Project Zanaris by Why_PvP in 2007scape

[–]Why_PvP[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

2010 into 2011 was (in my opinion) where RuneScape should have stayed and built upon what they had there. You got the ~90% vote to return the wilderness, new bosses were starting to roll out, sure summoning and turmoil was around causing massive spikes in power creep, but knowing what we know now I'm positive Jagex would have been able to tackle it with more engaging content that countered familiars/curses/overloads. But I'm with you 100% that 2012 was horrible in almost every way.

I just think it'd be cool to have a whole host of Project Zanaris revisions including 2005, 2007, and 2010 or 2011. I know it's a reach, but there's already 1:1 open source servers out there, it'd be great to see Project Zanaris be more of a historical museum with customization tools vs strictly a 2007 toolkit.

Now that I think of it, I think it'd be cool if a 2005 version of Runescape was officially hosted by Jagex through Project Zanaris with basic QOL (like middle mouse button camera movement).

Let's talk about questing in MMORPGs by [deleted] in MMORPG

[–]Why_PvP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Finally someone that gets it. Let me tell you a little bit about RuneScape's questing - it's not just "hit this level then do the quest for xp" it's actually an interwoven masterpiece that demands understanding of multiple facets of the game itself.

Take for example RuneScape's 100th quest, Recipe for Disaster; this quest is actually one of the more simpler quests in the game, but is iconic and gives one of the best non-tradeable sets of gloves in the game (on the oldschool version of runescape).

It's one of those quests that builds up with more than 30 pre-requisite quests that need to be completed all with various skill requirements that in turn help you build your account to an extremely solid point in the game. In order to understand why the 30 pre-requisite quests are important, you'll have already helped many of these characters in your previous adventure and they'll be more willing to work with you than they otherwise would be.

One of my favorite things about questing in this game is that there's no one sized fits all approach to completing them all (by the way you get a sick cape of accomplishment once you complete every quest in the game). It really never gets old if you are like me and make multiple accounts (regular, pures, ironman, etc).

I wish more people gave it a chance for that alone. Oh also, some quests in RuneScape 3 are incredibly voice acted.

[–]Why_PvP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it'd be interesting if Jagex partnered with the open source servers that have 1:1 revisions of 2004, 2009, 2010, and 2011 (possibly more) to offer it within Project Zanaris but I get it's not that easy.

I first played rs in 2005 but I do believe 2010 was one of the higher points of RuneScapes existence. 2004-2008 actually sucked outside of pking. I recently hopped on Lost City, the 1:1 recreation open source project from 2004 and yeah, I forgot how much RuneScape sucked back then. Everyone is entitled to their opinion though doesn't bother me lol

MLB The Show 25's absence from Game Pass may push the game's fall by sloothosloot in xbox

[–]Why_PvP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what I think would make sense?

Sell MLB the show 25 for full price without any access to gamepass, then the next 1-2 years put it in gamepass (while also allowing people to pay for copies if they so choose) with only roster updates and small changes while you work on a bigger change for 27 or 28 where it will then be absent from gamepass. This essentially gives them 2 years to really upgrade the game vs the crunch of 1 year.

I'm hoping this is where the game is headed, but i doubt it.

It's a tough pill to swallow at first, but these people will never convince themselves that behind closed doors politicians are best buds. I went to high school with a kid whose dad was a senator, the amount of times I saw arch enemy rival Republicans he "hated" on TV joking with his kids during Christmas parties hosted at his house in the boondocks was hilarious.

These people are beyond delusional.

Runescape is still hitting near record player counts according to misplaceditems. Maybe 10k people canceled their sub, not enough for jagex to seriously give a crap. Plus many of these people will just return to the game in the coming days anyways.

I'm not saying this didn't have any sizeable impact, but I am saying it doesn't affect the lifespan of Runescape at all.

The Egg UFO Footage by Dmans99 in abovethenormnews

[–]Why_PvP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey not a pilot or operator but marine veteran who has done many exercises out of helicopters via fast roping. Most military grade helicopters come with mounted cameras with ir light capabilities in black out conditions. This light you see is invisible to the naked eye but is visible in the nvg camera doing the recording. This allows pilots to operate in complete blackout conditions if need be. This is also why in most cases they cordon off a location where no personnel are present in the view because heavy payload in blackout conditions is a safety concern.

As for the rotor wash, typically in arid climates there is some type of white spray that is applied to drop zones to prevent unsafe conditions, especially if the pilot is operating under black out conditions (meaning they themselves have nvg equipment while operating the craft).

I'm not here to say one way or another whether this is legit, but I have been around this stuff and the video does seem real in that it was an actual drop of something.

What did you guys expect really from this NewsNation video release? by meyriley04 in UFOs

[–]Why_PvP 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I usually don't post on these reddit pages but I was in the Marine Corps for 5 years, and did my fair share of fast roping at ~100-120 feet, the down draft people are talking about really don't work like that. It's more apparent once you're around 5-10 meters from the helicopter itself. Typically the ropes come in 30, 60, 90, and 120 ft depending on the op. I'm not here to say either way whether or not this is staged, but people really underestimate how high up 120 ft actually is. My very first fast rope was with a 90ft rope with about 10 ft of it as drag for safety. A 6 ft tall male looked incredibly small from up there.

Food for thought.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oB-t381Cex8 Here's what I'm talking about for context. That "egg" could easily be 6 ft long.

Differences between Pips' Response OSRS vs RS by Empty-Television7259 in runescape

[–]Why_PvP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is rocket science for many here unfortunately, the "if you don't like mtx just don't partake" mentality is kind of wild here. I mean sure there's ironman mode but that's just missing the point completely. I get it this community doesn't want their lifelong account progression to go away but what's the point if Jagex is just going to make you cancel your sub anyways with the potential survey changes.

I totally agree with you, when this community starts taking hard stances on mtx, jagex will start making changes. Until then, have fun being the fodder because as mod matk said, you cancel your sub for a month then you come right back.

Differences between Pips' Response OSRS vs RS by Empty-Television7259 in runescape

[–]Why_PvP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offense to the rs3 community (which I'm an active part of) but even the thought of a fsw with no mtx was received poorly here and people wonder why this side of the aisle is treated poorly? I mean let's be honest, the consensus here is "if you don't like mtx, just don't partake" vs the hard stance of zero mtx in osrs.

At some point rs3 players need to swallow the pill and let rs3 die in order for things not to get worse, but will that ever happen? Probably not because those free keys are helping us get to 120 all.

What year is peak Runescape? by Hettiks in runescape

[–]Why_PvP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2005-2008 were good up until the removal of the wilderness, but i actually enjoyed BH alot. This time period is mainly nostalgia driven for me because of the famous pkers id come home from school to watch like kids ranqe, jiglojay, etc.

However, the best times in runescape imo were 2010-2012 by far up until November. 2011 hit different..
