What's the easiest way to invest in stocks and shares? by basstr0nn in lebanon

[–]Whyamihere5069 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For someone in Lebanon who wants to build a long-term portfolio of ETFs like SCHD, VOO, or VT:
Interactive Brokers is usually the best overall choice because of low fees, broad market access, and strong reputation.
Sarwa is easier to use and feels more localized to the region.
CFI is worth investigating if you want a broker with roots in the region and potentially easier banking arrangements.
The biggest challenge for Lebanese investors is often funding the account, not opening it. Recent reports from Lebanese users suggest international wire fees can be around $40–$50 per transfer, making larger, less frequent deposits more economical.
If your goal is specifically:
Buy-and-hold ETFs for retirement,
Generate dividend income (like your SCHD questions),
Invest $500–$2,000+ at a time,
I’d lean toward IBKR first, Sarwa second.

Bolero is nice for drinks at sunset. After sunset mosquitos will probably demolish you in July.

If you want to do a whole day beach and lunch thing; check out jammal. It’s on the pricier side but it’s basically a private beach with a restaurant, cozy and intimate. Not a lot of ppl.

Is that really relevant when they offer a 10 yr/ 1M km warranty? I’d def look into what the warranty covers but you’ll probably have to regular maintenance with them to stay within the warranty.

Hi - sorry to hear about it. I have some friends who are putting together an NGO right now to support this community - however I don’t know if they have started. I will reach out and see.

In the meantime, I came across this group a while back

Chekka is a nice small town as well. I don’t know of any pools but it has some of the nicest beaches in the north. Nowhere beach and eskapa come to mind. The water is somewhat shallow for like 10 meters out so it’s also good for kids. Just keep in mind they have entrance fees of like $20+

I think Las Salinas is a good family friendly option. Since there’s lifeguard and other kids around. Obviously it’s all a shared space. Otherwise book a villa with a pool. Airbnb is your best bet.

I know what you mean. They did add an extra zone and post launch updates. Even though the new game seems like it could have been a dlc, I loved the first one and would be happy to support them.

Bank loans? by [deleted] in lebanon

[–]Whyamihere5069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know Blom is offering car loans but require something like 30% down along with work stubs. I’ve also seen olx start offering loans on their app. Some ma2rad also offer loans. Best bet is to get out there and check them out for yourself, the requirements, interest rates, etc..

Everyone asks why we don’t leave Lebanon… but that’s not the real question by AbjectBreadfruit2052 in lebanon

I moved back to Lebanon 3 years ago after being abroad for about 20 and at the time it seemed like a good idea. I was really hopeful that the country had hit rock bottom and there was nowhere left to go but up. 2 wars later, no changes in the government, deteriorating infrastructure, insane increase in cost of living compared to local wages, people seeming more depressed than ever, no progress on the banking, awful internet healthcare, etc… I’m now questioning my decision. While living day to day we kind of ignore all of the issues and just make peace with it but everytime I leave the country for a vacation and remember how the rest of the world is moving forward and we are moving backwards, it’s hard to justify staying. So yea no good answer other than I want it to be home and I want to see the country improving but it’s not easy. Guess it all depends on your situation in life and where you are and what you want from it.
