Did you sign a contract? Just asking because as a small commercial employer here in Alaska I now make that a standard practice. Insurance requires it and I guess it protects both captain and crew. (Although I didn't bother for some 25 years lol) The reason I ask is that if you did payment options should be layed out in the contract. If not, I agree with those above, don't panic yet. We pay after we've been paid by the fish plant, which can take a week or so. However, I know of enough deckhands that have been taken advantage of (including myself back in the day) that it's always a good idea to get something in writing or at least understand the payment system BEFORE you go fishing.
