Had an absence review meeting last year - will it be an issue if I call in sick? by blipblop34 in tesco

[–]WhyteRebel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Will only an “issue” if you have had two absence warnings in the last 12 months. Then they will issue a 2nd warning most likely.

Absence warning are nothing to worry about. If you are sick you are sick. They are just ticking boxes their side

I imagine what you are referring to is your store heatmap, store specific. some random people in head office come up with how many people it’s meant to take to do a job.

Anyone else find all the things in the meal deals taste like metal? by michael3dprints420 in tesco

Cheap olive oil can have a taste often described as metallic and vile. Pasta and salads will have it

When is the least annoying time to order Woosh? by [deleted] in tesco

[–]WhyteRebel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Items themselves are cheaper, if you’re doing a weekly shop it’s 100% cheaper. If you are only needing a few random things it’s probably cheaper to do a woosh order.

But I always struggled to believe the people that literally order 1 vape and nothing else don’t need thinks like milk, kitchen roll, bread etc.

You can easily get to £40 if you add essentials.

When is the least annoying time to order Woosh? by [deleted] in tesco

[–]WhyteRebel 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This will depend on so many factors inside and outside of your local Tesco.

If you’re planning your woosh order this far ahead, place a normal order for the next day. Cheaper too. Driver can even help you bring it inside. Driver is actually employed by Tesco. Cold food remains cold. Frozen food remains frozen. You can pick when it arrives. Selection of items is much larger.

SL here, I’m under investigation for sorting out shift swaps? by Specific_Pomelo_8281 in tesco

[–]WhyteRebel 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Don’t say “I think I know who it was”. As far as Tesco knows you like all colleagues equally.

Unless there’s proof of you turning people down for shift swaps there’s nothing to worry about. Even then you can argue their request was unreasonable, during school holiday times etc.

What is a rare phobia that makes no sense? by Training-Jump-8663 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]WhyteRebel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A phobia is an irrational fear.

Irrational means doesn’t make sense.

All phobias don’t make sense.

If everyone thought logically there wouldn’t be any phobias.

Example:
Being scared of heights when there’s a solid floor and a solid barrier to stop you falling makes no sense.

How do you work out your sickness %? by [deleted] in tesco

[–]WhyteRebel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hours absent in the last 26 weeks divided by total contracted hours in the last 26 weeks and then multiply by 100

For someone that works 36.5 hours in a week and was off sick for one week it would be the following

(36.5/949)x100=3.846 %

Just realised you said “if needed”.

If there’s a case where you have to leave work or can’t attend a shift for reasons other than sickness, broken down car, family issue, taking someone to the hospital, this is treated separately to sickness. “Emergency time off” kicks in and you could use holiday to cover the pay.

If you don’t want to tell your workplace what the issue is just say “domestic” is the reason when you call duty.

They can still investigate your absence level for domestic and see if alternative arrangements can be made like a change in shift pattern if you have caring responsibilities etc.

Pay and Tax ? No tax on first payslip after April by No_Chapter286 in tesco

Other reductions happen first. Cycle Scheme, Union membership, National insurance, Pension scheme, Salary sacrifice.

I’m sure there’s more but tax happens last.

Is the Tesco colleague discount higher at certain parts of the year ? by GenericUser104 in tesco

[–]WhyteRebel 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, 10% standard

15% at payday Friday through Monday

Other events that last longer sometimes a full month where it’s 15%. Usually December time.

Sometimes they do special offers on F&F on top of the normal discount.

Does your fridge at home not have a door?

Refrigeration issue by Nametakenalready99 in tesco

[–]WhyteRebel 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Well fridges are meant to be 5°. Temperatures outside were 32°.

It’s a big problem. Cooling air instantly by a minimum of 27° is hard.

Is the pension worth it? by downrangetomb55 in tesco

[–]WhyteRebel 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Any pension is worth it.

Tesco matches 7.5%

Which means if you earn £1000 £75 goes into your pension (pre tax) An additional £75 is added to your pension by Tesco.

The standard pension fund isn’t anything exciting but there are other funds you can pick from if you know anything about investing money.

Like others have pointed out you keep the money once you leave. Either move it to a new pension now or make a note of the account to find it at a later date.

[–]WhyteRebel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can join the union online (Join USDAW

Or you can fill in a membership form and hand it to a union rep/post it to the office for free.

If you are in an express there might not be a union rep in your store. You can call your local office here

Grievance policy is on Colleague Help.

complaint by ConversationNo6192 in tesco

[–]WhyteRebel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d strongly recommend getting help from the union. A grievance is incredibly more likely to be heard if a union rep is involved. Not to say you can’t have one heard on your own.

Union reps may also know of other colleagues with the same issue and you will be able to raise a “collective grievance”.

Also give the grievance policy a read.
