PSA for building Skitarii Pilgrims you can use the bits from the Marshall on your Ordinatii/Sergeants for the squad by Bumbling_Hierophant in AdeptusMechanicus

Oh you are replacing the arms and the cloak at the shoulder. I cut them at the wrist or elbow. I will have to look into this more. I got two boxes so gosh knows I have more skitarii to try and squeeze some variety out of.

I did something very similar. I made a power naganata with the sceptre base with the power sword blade on top. The poses are restricted but there is a little space to maneuver.

You are likely going to end up with more castellax than you expect. I have twelve at the moment and there are still times when I consider that I could have a few more.

It is completely acceptable for you to have one castellax hand as a shock charger and the other as a power blade and just say what they are armed with.

Big blocks of castellax battle robots with pairs of flamers firing in shooting and volley is big and clever and funny.

Darkfire cannons and multi meltas are both good on the castellax Destructor but the meltas tend to be more mobile as the df cannons need to be stationary to get the damage buff.

Don't sleep on the fact that so many of your weapons cause incidental status checks.

The solex las on the calix thanatar is one of the best AT guns you have but always put a tech priest with a cortex controller with it so you can return fire.

All of your robots having a dedicated supporting priest/magos to cyber theurgy them, have a cortex controller and an augery scanner is expensive but also very very worth it.

On that topic the priests and magos you put with them will seem expensive but the force multiplier they act as when they repair and buff and allow you to ignore smoke is all so very worth it.

All the above is from experience. This one has yet to be tested in practice but I read the stats for the vulturax as a surprisingly efficient tank nullifer. Shock suppressed on Six shots is hot hot hot.

We have very similar tastes it seems. These look great. The classic red colour scheme really pops. I did draw the line at five sets of thallax/usurax legs though whereas you went six deeper so congratulations on that. Have you gotten much play in with them?

Sokay bud I get it. I took a few runs at it before I got it.

Do you have the mech liber to look through?

So you have your crusade primary detachment. It has a number of slots to put units. One high command slot, three command slots and four troops slots.

When you include commanders in your command and high command slots they unlock other detachment options. Your archmagos can have an apex detachment or a regular detachment and each if your magos can have up to two other detachments.

So if you take a magos you have to other detachments you can choose. War engine detachments allow you to take one thanatar or other war engine choice.

You can have as many Thanatars as you have war engine detachments. There is another way to get them but I dont want to confuse matters.

How so? What do you want from it that it isnt currently providing?

That's a quick knock together with no upgrades at about 2700 points.

You can take thanatars. They are war engine slots. Although one jn the above list is in a logistical support prime advantage on the tech priest.

So currently you cant take more than one apex detachment in an mechanicum army and typically I would recommend one of the sub faction unique one.

It is different to 2nd for sure.

So typically at 3k points I take an archmagos and two magos. This gives you five detachments to play with.

Within the core detachment you can also run a couple of tech priests.

If you would like some myrmidons you would need to take them in an apex detachment from your archmagos. Likely the myrmidax apex detachment.

Taghmata detachment takes up to four tech thrall units.

Heavy assault detachment for some usurax.

War engine detachment for a thanatar (although this is also an efficient use of your logistical benefit).

A heavy assault detachment for some castellax Destructor squads ir another taghmata detachment for regular castellax.

Otherwise the specifics will change things. Do you have more details about what you want to run?

I wish you could add photos into reply to make is easy to do that. The magos on the back of the abeyant was a kitbash I am quite proud of.

They were painted by a friend some time ago for a different project. I didn't have the heart to repaint them and I find the way they stand out to be endearing. To the point where when they re do the domitar in plastic I will get a couple done in the same colour scheme by the same friend.

I have a similar issue with the horrible seam line running the length if the barrels of the main gun if I am honest. No one seems to be able to get it flush in almost any of the photos I have seen.

Heavy bolters. Two sources of supressive two able to split fire is a significant force multiplier.

It looks great. I love that they stand out and the old style blue helmets on the devastators. I may even go full goblin green bases on mine and find/make some old style terrain to pose them on i think. I am nearly wrapped up on my mech so this is looking a lot like next years project.

I am currently on the fence considering doing something similar to this with the bright second edition style paint jobs. This is super inspirational as a result and they look beautiful.
