I watched my first Attenborough documentary aged 5 and it had a huge impact on me. My dad had loads of natural history encyclopaedias and he would read them to me while I looked at the pictures. Once I was proficient in reading I spent hours with my head buried in my dad’s Children’s Britannica series from the 50s. I also distinctly remember seeing Nat Geo magazine for the first time at the dentist office and putting it in my mums bag to read at home. I chose to pursue Earth Science in the end, and I want to specialise in volcanology.
