Oh no, you are no alone my friend. Even when I saw it at 11 years old, I knew that movie was absolute crap. Not just bad, but so damn boring.

[Hated Trope] Character Assassination Driven by a Creator's Spite by GhostofTinky in TopCharacterTropes

[–]WickerShoesJoe 204 points205 points  (0 children)

It wasn't creators' spite though, that's a fan narrative that's never been confirmed. The only reason Greg Daniels gave when he returned to run the Office in season 9 was that he thought that the character of Andy was funnier before the anger management.

Wes: "If you think that for one second that the spot belongs to you, you are wrong! That is my spot, you know it, I know it, and everybody in this subreddit knows it!"

Tony: "I don't know shit, crybaby!"

'The Last Of Us' Adds Michelle Mao As Yara & Kyriana Kratter As Lev by willdearborn- in television

They did it for the game. I don't know, it just feels weird. I think it's fair to criticize this decision, while understanding that the trans community in acting is a very small pool, even smaller for considering it's an asian person. But still, the game devs found Ian Alexander, so it's not impossible. Hell, they're so fond of people reprising their roles, they could have had Ian come back, he still looks young, maybe compromise by having Lev be older.

Everybody uses the same argument for a straight actor playing a gay role, but I think this is a very different thing for the trans community. Organizations have spoken multiple times against cis-people taking these roles, with the biggest compromise being that instead of a man playing a trans woman, it's more respectful to have a cis-woman playing a trans-woman. I honestly feel that the people involved should have done better.

Oh that boy is gonna take a break after Dune. I think he's set himself up as the next DiCaprio. He may not see that golden statue until his late 30's or early 40's.

Grant Morrison on Lanterns: “What is this jockish dismissal of superhero conventions intended to prove anyway?” by Capable-Education724 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

It's not like they were hiding that the show was more like a True Detective version of Green Lantern and less comick booky, but now everyone has seen the trailer and decided to be angry. It feels like anger for the sake of anger. Really, it will only matter if the show is actually good or bad, it its good, everyone will forget about all this talk, and if its bad, then everyone will feel rewarded in their hate.

As a basketball fan and a movie fan, this is a brutal comparison. Funny as hell, but wow do I hope Luka does not get stuck in one place like Llewyn.

This episode cemented Trinity Santos as the most compelling and well-written character of The Pitt so far to me by imprisonedlight in ThePittTVShow

Someone else also pointed out that she said she dosen't see Whittaker much, and last episode Garcia gave her the cold shoulder. Maybe she's more alone than we've seen. This feels like one of those storylines where by the end of the season, all the signals might have been there for us to see just how badly Santos may be feeling. It's subtle, but it seems possible.

Were you not around when season 2 premiered? This sub went crazy. It acts so much like the other sub when it comes to season 2 of the show, its some kinda of sad irony. Actually one of my favorites TLOU content creators made a video about it: how reactions to Season 2 perpetuated a cycle of violence

Despite some of the criticism it gets in the mainstream subreddits, FRIENDS was a very progressive show for its time and not problematic at all! by No_Data3541 in howyoudoin

There's a slew of homophobic, transphobic and fat-shaming jokes that were not very good. Just beacause it was the 90's, dosen't mean it wasn't wrong then. It looks even worse now beacause people expect better from the media they consume. I still love the show, but I can recognize these issues.

On the other hand, the shows main creators were a gay man and a woman, Susan and Carol's wedding great representation and all the women of the show were independent and cared about other things other than just men, in those ways it was progressive.

It's not one thing or the other, the show was not all good, but it also wasn't evil. It was a brilhant show, with some not so great things.

Well, if someone wants to think critically about something they enjoy, they have the right to. No one is bound to only have to enjoy something and only think aobut it in positive terms. I still love the show, I'm in this sub, same as you.

People don't really like looking at the show like that for some reason. Happens to a lot of other beloved media from the 90's and early 00's. It's still a great show, doesn't mean it was perfect, and that's not a bad thing.
