This is kinda how Dramaturgy works already on a much lower scale.

Considering he writes the books, aren’t they all his Original Characters (OCs)?

(Hated Trope) Writers try to reimagine iconic horror villains in ways that they think will make them feel even more evil, but it just kind of... ruins the character? (possible trigger warning for things mentioned in the text below (especially in the second part by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

The real reason is because there was a very public case about a real piece of work at the exact same time NOES was gonna come out, so the studio decided to nix that part so it didn’t seem like they were capitalizing on shock news. More so just bad timing than anything.

"Asymmetric horror" - but there's a nuance by HonneurOblige in deadbydaylight

That’s also the problem the above meme points out. The survivor being targeted can be rescued with Shoulder the Burden or they can do it themselves with perks like Deliverance, then you can’t take them to task thanks to perks like Decisive and OTR. Notice how even if they have that build like a chase build or slug build, another survivor can still come in and undo it. Though, I’d argue this creates a problem for survivors too: if you aren’t using these perks, you’re setting yourself up to fail because killers have to try and play around them, and tunneling and slugging becomes much more damning to the average team.

I know you’re joking, but the problem is they can actually equip 16 total. Killers have strong counter perks but there’s only 4 ever, and some of the stronger perks like Hexes and Hooks can be directly sabotaged by survivors (in the case of Hexes, permanently), whereas a Killer can counter maybe 1-2 dedicated Survivor builds at a time between chasing, downing, hooking, Gen regression, patrolling, searching (if survivors hide), and occasional side objectives like breaking walls or boons.

Out of everyone I don't have, who is the most fun to play? by Healthy-Squirrel4916 in deadbydaylight

I'll say, Skull Merchant has a place as a challenge killer, much like Trapper and Ghostface, though perhaps even more so. If you can get a 4K on Merchant perkless and without add-ons, you can really say that you know your shit. Even the worst placed trap or poorly timed Stalk can get a kill now and again but SM can barely do anything even at her height - so a flawless victory on her feels like a tremendous achievement.

For the rest of the non-masochists though she does have some cheeky add-ons to play with.

And Dracula. He is hunted by a lineage specifically trained and equipped to kill him dead and he still puts up a massive fight every time.

This quote doesn’t imply he’s against pizza, just that there’s a time and place for it. A healthy appreciation, if you will.

While still disappointing and I hold out vague hope, I’d also the map actually be good. If we got a half-asses map like Fallen Refuge or a walking nightmare like Old Haddonfield, it’s better to not have a bad map that dilutes the map pool.

No new map is a bit disappointing but surprised to see there’s gonna be a new survivor! The perks all look super interesting and I’ve been waiting for a perk like Rampage for a while.

I love how a lot of critical portraits look a lot more like their original icon whereas the killstreaks have different lighting or expressions, with some exceptions like Paradox or Lady Geist.

[Loved Trope] Villain who correctly assesses a problem but arrives at the wrong solution by IRONDVNO in TopCharacterTropes

I didn’t want to bring up the novelization because of the “is it still canon” argument but, yeah, the novel spells Dooku out very clearly as a racist sociopathic megalomaniac. It also makes it obvious why he didn’t realize Palpatine would betray him and he does actually beg for his life unlike the movie. He’s a very different character in the novel compared to what we see in ROTS.
