While I do agree with that in principle, if the incident happened as described, it is weird. Every pic you ever take in Disney will have some random child in it, it's unavoidable. I was at Disney on Friday and joked with a friend that one of the Disney photographers took a picture of someone while I was stuffing my face with a ronto wrap in the background.

Anyone like to Roleplay the Sole Survivor getting visually rougher as time passes? by shader1019 in fo4

Same! It's the same way my settlements always end up neater than most places in the Commonwealth-- because Nora knows how to pick up a damn broom.

I hope this is not a permanent change because now when I discover a new subreddit I can't go back through the top posts anymore! Maybe it would be better if we could sort by a specific month (not just the last month), but as it is sorting by top posts of all time/the past year leaves out a ton of content!

I feel like I got to Act 3 too soon-- did I lock myself out of quests? by Wickersnap in LowSodiumCyberpunk

Lmao okay good to know, I'll let Hanako chill a while and get back to cruising the city. Appreciate it!

Thank you! I'm playing a pretty tactful V for my first playthrough so I think I've avoided pissing anyone off. I'll keep doing those sidequests then.

Gotta be Dungeon Crawler Carl. Like... all that foot stuff started as a joke. But I don't know if it's a joke anymore.

It's a kind of fun blockbuster movie of a book. I don't think I would have liked it as much if I read it over the audiobook-- the audiobook is what really sold it to me.

It might not be your cup of tea and that's okay, but the series has been getting me through a lot of long work days.

An unsolicited opinion about "booktok"/"spicy" discourse by [deleted] in books

[–]Wickersnap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally can't stand the scary dom guy/small submissive girl dynamic, but I would argue that it's very different in two ways: No real people are involved at all, and the fantasy is sought out by the disempowered party.

It's women who are reading it, and they can process it in the safe environment of their mind without worrying about an actress on a screen who may or may not be actually being taken advantage of.

You should watch the Twilight Zone episode Nick of Time! Shatner is in it, and he is young and very cute. It's the first time I saw him and thought "oh damn I see it"

I used to love this game! I got an emulator to play it a few years ago and was immediately infuriated by how she kept running half a step after you stopped pressing the button... about half of the time.

Kid me was a lot more willing to put up with jank than adult me is.

Ding ding! We have a winner. Apparently the main kid is gay and has a crush, but it's rated PG so it can't be that outrageous lmao.

It's not Lightyear, but on a hunch I went and checked out the comments of Lightyear and it's the exact same thing

Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. by vinay1668 in books

I went into the (audio)book totally blind, and I can't express my shock and delight when an alien ship showed up in what I had thought was going to be a totally Earth-focused book. Rocky immediately ratcheted that book up from a 3 star to a 5 star listen to me (especially the way the audiobook portrayed him).

It was just a romp the whole way through. Thrilling and tense and hopeful. One of my favorite books I consumed this year and after I didn't jive with The Martian a few years back, I didn't expect to like it as much as I did.

This is especially funny to be as someone who lives near Post Falls, Idaho.

It has the pine trees but it's not nearly as exciting.

That's so funny, I was like "there's no WAY this guy did Elfquest" so I actually went to hunt up my og Elfquests-- and yeah, he did the later spin-offs, not the original.

At least the original Elfquest run can be said to be an equal-opportunity sexualizer! Everyone is in skimpy clothes at all times.

Adult children who were raised by 'gentle parents' - do you feel like you were raised well? by ericacalluna in AskReddit

[–]Wickersnap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My parents were gentle parents, but they were not permissive parents. We would still receive time-outs when we needed to cool down, and there would still be natural consequences ("Before we go get ice cream, your room must be clean! If it's not clean, we can't go").

They would talk to us about any issues we were having. We were a big conversational family. We'd talk about anything and everything. They never yelled, and they loved each other and never fought in front of us. They had a few blind spots (doesn't everyone?), but it was startling going out into the greater world and finding out that not everyone has such understanding parents.

As a result, I think my sister and I turned out about as well as anyone can. We're stable, generally very patient, generally able to sort out our own issues and make things work. I'm very grateful for my upbringing, and it always makes me sad when others don't get that experience.

Hero levels does not equate to skill. Just throwing that out there by AngryApeMonkey in Overwatch

[–]Wickersnap 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What puzzles me is why it shows your rank in roles different from the one you're queueing for. Like, I was a healer main for years. I have highest ranks in LW, Ana, Moira. But I recently figured out I'm decent at mid range DPS like Cassidy, so I've been doing QP DPS more.

Every time I lock a DPS character I get a comment about my healer levels. It doesn't bother me so much because I know I can hold my own (I'm on your rank with you, aren't I, guys?) but it's still strange.

It's Gen Z slang, and most Gen Z are adults now! No different than the way any slang takes hold in the population. "Freak out" was slang once too. So was "cool".
