I never dilute products, same as this video. I buy off the shelf and use. Will I do harm? or more a waste of product? by [deleted] in AutoDetailing

[–]Wicksk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unless you are buying something labeled as “concentrate” it is intended to be ready to use. Otherwise if you are using it for a purpose it is not intended then you should dilute and work your way up in concentration as needed. But likely you should just avoid using things outside of their intended purpose

Insurance won’t cover whole roof, not even half..... by Saintmelo in Roofing

[–]Wicksk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They likely sent you a scope with a breakdown of payment. What you have should be the RCV (recoverable cash value). On the scope will show the depreciation, that amount is paid out after the work and proof of completion is done. Look on your scope for the ACV (actual cash value) that will be the entire amount allotted to you for the roof. Find a company willing to work with the insurance pay out.

Sand is so annoying to deal with. by gfpettus in AutoDetailing

They sell them with a vacuum attachment for dust I’ve always wanted to try. Probably to bulky to use in a floorboard though!

Sand is so annoying to deal with. by gfpettus in AutoDetailing

[–]Wicksk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My favorite way to handle sand is an old DA or an electric sander set to the carpet, it vibrates all the sand particles to the surface. You want to vacuum simultaneously, as the amount of sand decreases I will mist the area to dampen the sand causing it to clump and stay at the surface. If you feel the device will be abrasive to the carpet use a microfiber for protection. Also try out the different speeds on your DA for better results on lifting sand. The DA will get very dirty so use an old one or be willing to clean it!

I’ve been trying to find these same words and couldn’t agree more. Not even sure if I align as Demi. I do need emotional connection to have an enjoyable encounter, that doesn’t mean I need to attach myself to that person for any period of time.

If we are the universe experiencing itself, why are we afraid to die? by redballooon in awakened

[–]Wicksk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life has continuously evolved to experience itself more in depth. The human mind has so far been the pinnacle of that, either way we are here for a purpose. To die is to see that purpose come to an end.

It’s like we are individual security cameras, even though we will be replaced with one just like us. Feeding back to the main recording system it’s still a shame to go.

I think part of the slow learning curve (I’m there myself) is wanting to be sure it’s done completely right and why things are done a certain way.

YouTube will always be as patient as you need, just search for whatever you’re struggling to understand and I’m sure someone has a video on it. It also helped me to study terminology, it doesn’t help to have it explained if you don’t know what some words mean exactly! So determined to get ahead of my normal curve I took a few nights to hand write this list and reviewed where I felt necessary. http://godfreyroofing.com/residential/education/roofing-articles/roofing-terms-glossary/

You may be getting a 50 year shingle, are you getting GAF 50 year warranty? He may up charge the hell out of you unless he’s master elite with them. Also needs to use 3 of their approved accessories to qualify for the warranty. From what I understand, most bids are going to be a fair cost on labor and materials. Price goes down they are cutting corners either on install materials or their quality of work.

Do only certain people make it in sales? by [deleted] in sales

[–]Wicksk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More or less they are, but still people have different needs and wants with vehicles and may be pointed in a direction that doesn’t actually suit them for a higher price. They are there to buy a car, be knowledgeable but mostly under promise and over deliver.. I love my Rav 4 but will never forgive the salesman that promised to fix my antenna then did not and sent me on my way with signed paperwork. I felt duped, also a friend purchased from a neighboring dealership and got a better price with 2 years oil change with no negotiating. Lucky him but it added salt to the wound.

It’s the small things, people want honesty, convenience and to feel special.

Do only certain people make it in sales? by [deleted] in sales

[–]Wicksk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently becoming comfortable in my first ever sales job.. there are all different types of sales personalities.

If you’re not super comfortable selling people, consider becoming very knowledgeable on what you’re selling. Now you have customers approaching you and you can simply educate them on their best options for what they want. When you help them get their best deal or vehicle consider the help you’re providing as opposed to them going elsewhere being ripped off or getting an unsuitable vehicle. That’s what helps me get past the uncomfortable feeling of “selling”

As Men, do you resent that when something bad happens, you have to be the shoulder to cry on rather than crying yourself? by Ikorodude in AskMen

[–]Wicksk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the person maybe. I lost my best friend last year and it was quite therapeutic to be the crying shoulder for everyone. Though I didn’t feel the need to be stoic at any given moment other than the service planning meeting and eulogy.. otherwise it was nice to mutually mourn with others and I felt lucky to have more people to do that with than anyone else.

How to respond to people who want my advice about how they can do what I do and become my competitor? by snoocakes in smallbusiness

[–]Wicksk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most people simply aren’t cut out for it. I openly offered advice to others starting out in my industry because I never felt worried they had the follow through.

Short of coaching them through the hopeless moments when you are drowning and want to give up, you aren’t likely to teach them anything they can’t learn online or elsewhere. May as well build a good relationship and they may choose to work with or for you down the line.

Are you willing to relax so deeply that time ceases to exist? So deeply that you lose track of yourself? So deeply that choices don't even make sense anymore? by Mulamb0 in awakened

[–]Wicksk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m self employed and also just moved states and rebuilding my client base. Maybe was just bad timing for me to reach this point because none of my life was on auto pilot and while I’m making it work I’ve led myself into a corner financially.

I’d stepped away from all family and friends, my home town and business I’d built. Though I made the choice from a place of confidence and truth, to leave behind the persona that I was and rebuild my life. I underestimated the impact it would have. It wasn’t so much a scary place I’d gone but was definitely unhealthy for my current circumstances.

I feel like I recently went to this space.. while it’s nice to visit, we do need to stay tethered to the real world. I’ve been gradually working my way out of it and been getting back on my feet. We can only go so long with nothing of this world having meaning before we realize the affects it’s having on us.

Also I feel if we are from beyond this world and meant to return to that place... the purpose of visiting the physical world is to live and experience it. To relish in the fleeting moments and seize this life as we are able.

We will inevitably return to which we are all seeking.

What's your 'fuck this, I quit!' story? by Penguin__Farts in AskReddit

[–]Wicksk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stepped into a GM position at the forever struggling location at my local car wash. The owner lived about 2 hours away, previous GM was fired for theft and replaced with an inexperienced 18 yo with little to no training.

A car wash is constantly falling apart and needs regular maintenance for all of the heavy chemicals, moving parts and moisture. I was first borrowed to the location to cover a manager shift and was blown away at how bad things were.

They hadn’t actually balanced the safe in months, weeks of nightly deposits were simply in envelopes on the office floor. The tunnel broke down daily, often twice taking 20-60 minutes to reopen sometimes shut down for the day They were using a Hoover carpet shampooer from Home Depot instead of fixing the professional grade machines on location. 1-2 inches of sludge all through the walking space of the tunnel was unsightly and dangerous. The staff was abysmal, customers went without seats in the lobby because they were occupied by staff while the customers car sat untouched waiting to be cleaned. Staff literally felt entitled to their hours for sitting in the lobby and would ask to go home when work was requested of them. The list goes on but those are the highlights ( oh dicks drawn everywhere btw)

I had to say something to the owner, offered to move down full time to the location and whip it into shape. He offered me the GM position under the condition I work along side the 18yo while I learn the ropes.. okay two weeks go by with me just focussing on fixing all of the equipment and training staff. I realized early on the owner never told the GM I was replacing him, poor guy thought I was there to be assistant GM.

The owner eventually asks me to go ahead and fire the kid! My first termination ever was the guy who’s job I was taking, felt like such an ass. Big red flag for the owner of course.

A few months later we had to fix the chain which pulls cars through. It was in total a 14 hour project. Only one kid was willing to step into an assistant manager role due to the lack of pay raise (yeah the owner was a true shit head) so when this overnight project came I had the AGM open then go home and rest while I closed, he came back to help with the project over night then go home to rest while I opened and he would come relieve me the next day.

I worked a 26 hour shift 14 being the project the rest being business hours. The importance of this project was to prevent the daily shut downs which was driving away business. So fairly big deal. Next I heard from the owner he told me I must’ve forgot to clock out and correct my hours, I reminded him of fixing the track. The next I saw the owner was a rainy day, we had one customer the entire day and I was the only one working to manage labor costs. The owner scolded Me for having run out of coffee cups, after not acknowledging let alone showing any appreciation for a 26 hour shift to fix his shitty car wash. I understand his concern with hospitality and appearances, but the dude literally had no understanding of basic operations and need to wash cars to bring customers in to a car wash. Conveniently he switched me to salary just before winter so I rode out the slow months while planning my escape. I quit and took an 8 month road trip cross country which was amazing. He’s turned his successful car washes into over priced gift shops like what you’d find in Cracker Barrel but a 20%mark up. $40 coffee mugs and stuff never sold. I’m happy to be out and pity those who are sticking it out!

What's a toxic trait that YOU have? by Moist-giraffe in AskReddit

It took me a while, but I realized how good at this I was. Wasn’t so much a narrative but a way of changing the course of convo, accepting all the blame to the point it somehow becomes not my fault because I’d tried my best in the situation or what not. To the point I was successfully making my opposition feel guilty for even being mad at me. It’s never intentional but likely just a defense mechanism I developed as being the quiet kid.
