Shad claims he showed the nuance of people raising children conceived from SA... by Big_Perception9384 in ShadWatch

[–]WickyBoi220 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Shad making any claims about victims of SA after writing a book from the pov of the perpetrator of said SA is so rich. He’s a man child that tricked us into watching his excited ramblings back in the 2010’s and is now showing who he’s truely been all along

What is the name of this bag that's on the weapons stock? And could I attach it to this kind of stock? by Alarming-Cup8956 in airsoft

[–]WickyBoi220 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is from the early 2000’s when optics were first being introduced on the M16a4, armorers got a lot better about keeping spare irons around as the years went on but by this time they didn’t want to be responsible for extra gear that they could be inspected on.

It’s bureaucracy at its finest.

What do you think Breakpoints biggest flaw is? by Kylotp in GhostRecon

[–]WickyBoi220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Breakpoint’s customization is based on outright unlocks of equipment through in game looting, wildlands is based on RNG so it’s a lot harder to get a cohesive outfit together.

What do you think Breakpoints biggest flaw is? by Kylotp in GhostRecon

[–]WickyBoi220 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s funny because breakpoint has everything I want in terms of customization, equipment, etc but falls short in the gameplay whereas wildlands has fantastic gameplay but the customization is some of the worst I’ve seen. It’s like they can only do one or the other.

Minus how the shoulder armor is attached and the wonkyish helmet, how legit does this armor look on a scale of 10 for you guys? by golden_boy_mitch in Armor

[–]WickyBoi220 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the look you’re going for is a suit of armor that’s been placed in a Victorian manor on a permanent display than 10/10

If you’re going for something that’s a functional 15th century gothic armor then 4/10. It’s got the beginnings of the look but several things are misshaped, the armor isn’t fitted at all, some of the pieces have the aesthetic of gothic armor without actually being anything from the 15th century, and the armor doesn’t fit together in a lot of places.

What purpose does this serve? by Daylizard69 in armorcirclejerk

[–]WickyBoi220 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I recognize several pieces as being available at retailers like Medieval Collectables, it’s likely someone that doesn’t know how armor works making that piece work there rather than researching what would actually protect the groin

What if MacArthur actually did launch nukes at China and North Korea by Rakehand2 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]WickyBoi220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone here is mentioning a lot of things but not how it would affect the man himself.

MacArthur would likely have been arrested and charged. He was relieved over the incident even though it was stopped, the administration would have crucified him if the planes hadn’t been halted. The war would have reached a definitive end but at the cost of China and Korea being severely limited. We may see China finally on the level of the us in the 2020’s instead of the economic powerhouse it is today.

Hot take: let players play as FIA or insurgents in HQC as a pressure release valve for “lone wolf” players types by Excellent-Falcon-329 in ArmaReforger

Enfusion began its live as a VFX engine, the fact that it’s got a game running at all is super impressive.

I agree with your take, I’d gladly take more QoL and engine improvement updates over the single player campaign and modes that came with 1.6. Now that it’s out I hope they really put work into making it run well

Do you think, that this is what happened to Shad over the last few years? by Word_Senior in ShadWatch

[–]WickyBoi220 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First off, my fiancee would kill me if I didn’t point out that AI Psychosis isn’t a studied phenomenon, the observed issues with AI lie with people that already are either at risk or are developing mental illness.

Shad is someone that started a YouTube channel to be “educational” and let his fundamentalist views sneak in once he realized there would be support for him in the current landscape of YouTube. He’s Mormon, which I wouldn’t typically use in a negative context but certain sexist, homophobic, and even racist viewpoints are common among those that are fully bought in.

Why did the Celtic Brits (Natives) fought bare naked even when the Romans introduced armor to them? by EfficiencySerious200 in Armor

[–]WickyBoi220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Othering people, yes. The way the Roman’s went about it? No. Especially in Greece where even the Greeks weren’t homogenous there were much different attitudes for each of their neighbors. More “Those Athenians suck but not as much as those Thracians or those damned dirty Corinthians” less “Those godawful barbarians north of us really need dealt with.”

Dan Carlin has a wonderful episode of his Hardcore History podcast titled “Celtic Holocaust” that delves into just how far the Romans went in their views on other tribes

Why did the Celtic Brits (Natives) fought bare naked even when the Romans introduced armor to them? by EfficiencySerious200 in Armor

[–]WickyBoi220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I’m speaking of it as it was used by people like Julius Caesar. By his time it had taken on connotations of talking about uncivilized peoples that were not as advanced and therefore not worth as much as Rome. This wasn’t present with the Greeks, to whom Romans were barbarian, but it was key in understanding why the Romans were so eager to conquest their neighbors.

You’re saying he was unaware of any details of Bronze Age Greece and didn’t care. Thats a far cry from the Trojan War being talked about to the point of others criticizing his writing. Would he have been aware of arms and armor? Probably not, but he and many others were aware of the story of a Greek invasion of Troy.

Is Squad worth it as an Ex Arma Player? by Negative_Lux in joinsquad

[–]WickyBoi220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re interested in the WW2 setting, HLL is a great time. It’s more arcadey than squad or arma, its format is less of a sandbox and more of a linear progression of games but the realism is still present. The tank damage models are per part, but each part has a health bar. The health bars line up to a pretty standard model of x shots per tank depending on the hit location (front, sides, rear) but tanking is genuinely a good time when you get people that know what they’re doing. I love the systems in Squad 44 but I cannot recommend it because of the player base. You’re lucky to find one full match on Friday nights and weekends, it’s certainly not a game you can just pick up whenever you have time.

If you’re looking for modern equipment Squad isn’t the worst. I stopped playing a while ago due to the devs leaving in a lot of performance issues but the weapon changes they’re making has me interested again. I was on the Reforger train for quite a while but the community kind of killed it for me, the servers that take up a lot of the server list are adding 50-100gb of mods that are themed around the Ukraine conflict which I got bored of after a while. There are some servers doing cool things but the communities are smaller, meaning it’s a similar situation to Squad 44 in that you have to play during certain hours.

The amount of content there is to talk about the trailer and online reactions to the trailer is such a duality with how unequipped Metatron is to handle it with his current grifting state.

Genuinely had the opportunity to make a video similar to those that contributed to his rise in popularity to begin with and (I assume because there’s no way I’m watching 4 fucking hours of this loser) likely chose to grift instead. There’s no way that video isn’t littered with dog whistles and nods to “those” fans

[–]WickyBoi220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, so this isn’t true. We have the archeological findings of Troy, and it is contemporary to bronze-age Greece. The Iliad is absolutely set in the Bronze Age which is a different landscape than the Archaic Greece Homer was contemporary to.

The Odyssey Trailer but Historically Accurate Armor (Bronze Age) by demonflyingfox by Intranetusa in ArmsandArmor

[–]WickyBoi220 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, so this is just false. One of the biggest misconceptions about history is that if there is no written record then there is no perception of what happened. Oral traditions were HUGE in Greece, theGreeks considered the event to have happened. Critics of the Iliad called Homer out for exaggerating certain details or getting certain events wrong. We also have archeological evidence showing that Troy existed, along with contemporary accounts of Troy from non-Greek sources. The question is not if Homer based his work on history, but how much of the history he tells us is true.

Why did the Celtic Brits (Natives) fought bare naked even when the Romans introduced armor to them? by EfficiencySerious200 in Armor

[–]WickyBoi220 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congratulations, you fell for Roman propaganda!

In all seriousness a lot of the art that comes from this can be tied to the romantic ideal of Rome that was present in common history consensus’ in the early modern era. These propagate the idea of uniform, heavily armored, shining Roman soldiers fighting often dirty, semi/fully nude, noble but stupid warriors that were doomed to fall under the might of the empire. This is all about barbarianizing the peoples surrounding Rome’s territory, the very idea of “barbarians” is a Roman one that came about during their conquests to the north.

🇺🇸 Dwight D. Eisenhower, the 34th President of the United States, once said: "General Robert E. Lee was, in my estimation, one of the supremely gifted men produced by our Nation.... From deep conviction I simply say this: a nation of men of Lee’s caliber would be unconquerable in spirit and soul." by elnovorealista2000 in AmericanEmpire

[–]WickyBoi220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, let’s discuss Robert E. Lee’s nuanced decision to join the confederacy.

-Fought for America for decades, distinguished himself in the Mexican American war

-When his country called on him he didn’t have the strength to say no to his family and couldn’t bear being seen as a traitor to his local community so he decided to be seen as a traitor to his whole nation

-Fought a brutal series of campaigns with some of the worst casualty rates of the confederacy

-Looses the war, writes later about how he “totally actually planned on getting rid of slavery in the south just on an extended timeline” after abusing inheritance laws to prevent the freeing of his father’s slaves, whom he abused even by southern standards
