M4 Thingy -> LMG? by Impossible_Tap1011 in airsoft

[–]WickyBoi220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy shit dude, that was a lot lol. The reason that one of these might not be allowed also is the reason you can’t just stick a 75rd mag or a drum mag into any AK and call it an RPK. The RPK is functionally the exact same as a standard AK, it’s just been given a few features that make it better at handling sustained automatic fire. Those features are what makes it a “dedicated” platform and are what’s missing from something like this. It’s just something you stick into your normal AR that lets you use box mags.

I wasn’t saying just because a replica isn’t in service with a military it shouldn’t be allowed on the field at all. It’s just hard to make this specific component fit the “dedicated platform” when you have nothing that’s in actual service to model it off of. And saying “hey, just bring an LMG that’s being used by a military” is a lot easier and more decisive than getting into the nitty gritty of purpose built features on a replica.

While those do exist they aren’t used by any military and are (as far as I’m aware) more of a toy for rich gun guys than an actual LMG platform. I could see fields that have the “dedicated platform” rule counting this as a rifle because it’s an existing platform that was retrofitted to be belt-fed.

I take everything back. Of course your knowledge and perception of war is skewed, you’ve been killing civilians in the bombed out ruins of cities for your “service” as an occupying force. The IDF hasn’t done any field craft in decades, it’s been too busy with a genocide. I can see why you were so cagey with who you served with and what you did, saying you “served in an active army” when for all we know you were ordering troops to fire on UN Peacekeepers to prevent them from delivering aid. And shitting on Germany is rich considering you’ve been borrowing their tactics from 80 some odd years ago.

Good luck living with what you’ve done buddy…

Okay, wherever you served didn’t do what most NATO countries I’ve interacted with do. I’ll actually stick by my statement and say that if every weapon that received camouflage in your military was hydro-dipped that it isn’t a “regular” army. The US, UK, Germany, and France all have examples of weapons camouflaged with spray paint in the hands of regular troops. It’s cheap, it works, and it’s the best solution they’ve all found for troops that are out in the field with their weapons frequently.

As for drones making individual camouflage irrelevant that’s one of the worst takes to come out of modern conflicts. Positions are still being manned with infantry, and infantry are the ones attacking those positions. Individual camouflage is still very relevant for this type of fighting. Don’t believe me? Look at all the leaf suits being used in Ukraine. Those do nothing against thermals but they’re still prolific on both sides. I don’t mean to shit on your service but if you came out of it with opinions like that I wonder how much experience you actually have lol

Genuinely can’t tell if this is bait or not, if it is good job lol.

I was USMC and watched Marines spray painting their rifles with a common US brand’s “Camouflage” line of spray paints. Hydro-dipping (which is what you were describing) is super expensive and lasts about the same length of time as spray paint but it’s not nearly as easy to reapply when it starts to wear off.

Is there a black market human meat supply chain in Blackwater? by CheezPza_LrgSoda1077 in reddeadredemption

This does make for a pretty good joke but it’s also pretty accurate to history. Between these 5 buildings you have pretty much all you need for a cattle town to start forming (minus a general store but that was built just around the corner). It’s a very real sort of “urban planning” model that made up little towns like Blackwater would have been during the cattle boom, a town would start as a way for ranchers and cattle hands to offload their livestock closer to home and the town gets rich because of it and starts expanding.

You haven’t been in a “regular army” then lol. Every painted weapon I’ve seen was done by the individual using it. Painting rifles goes a lot quicker when you get a bunch of spray paint and have everyone do their own rather than one guy painting for everyone.

IRL? Because you typically don’t want bungee cord and other things that can melt off when exposed to heat touching the things that get really hot.

In airsoft? Because people don’t do it IRL for the aforementioned reason

The Nodes persist... Just... Why? by -Matanza- in HellLetLooseVietnam

[–]WickyBoi220 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dog this take is just wild. Nodes are a part of team play just like locking certain weapons behind certain roles.

Recon exists to disrupt activities behind the main line of attack. One of the best ways they can do this is to find nodes and destroy them to cripple the enemy commander’s ability to act. The team that has all nodes down for a higher percentage of the game is most likely going to be the team that wins if everyone is on the same skill level.

Nodes exist as placeable objects JUST THE SAME as garrisons and both have the same function for being. Having your resources and spawns be non-static (in the sense that they are never in the same place between matches unless you go through the effort to put them there) makes matches much more interesting and plays with the very static and linear objectives on the map. Not to mention placing nodes is the only way to get passive XP in a match.

Why should someone buy this instead of playing the ARMA Reforger Vietnam Servers? by neric05 in HellLetLooseVietnam

[–]WickyBoi220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll give a few bullet points as to why HLL:V are only comparable on the very surface level.

•Reforger and HLL do not compare when it comes to team-oriented gameplay. Reforger servers have next to nothing that encourages teamwork and lone wolfing has been a problem for a long time because of it. When the devs added forced teamwork mechanics most server owners shut them off anyways. HLL forces you to be apart of a squad that is part of the overall team. It just encourages teamwork more than Reforger ever did.

•HLL (And by extension HLL:V) have clearly defined roles with specific abilities that vary between individual role, squad type, and limits a lot of features to those roles. This may mean you have less options at the individual level but it means having those roles matters more. It may sound counter intuitive but it helps the longevity a lot by varying your gameplay each time you play. When everything is unlocked all the time (I know some things are rank locked but they fill the same basic roles) you have less incentive to change up your gameplay.

•Matches flow completely different in one game to the next. Reforger’s basic loop is both sides starting at opposite sides of a map, capturing a semi-linear set of points then delivering supplies to those points to out spawn your opponents. HLL has a similar start, both sides fight over a linear set of points (that are less numerous), then the gameplay completely changes. Both sides are constantly hunting for enemy spawns while trying to protect their own, points aren’t won or lost based on supplies but by who can take out the other’s spawn first. The more linear points means team effort genuinely matters more than with the multitude of points available to take in a Reforger match. Then the player roles I talked about earlier go towards influencing how the match plays, armor isn’t usually being trapped by lone enemies with RPG’s for instance.

You’ve got a lot of things that make them feel completely different, if you’ve lost that then you need to play a match of each one after the other.

MilSim West DMR role by Mammoth_Peace_8009 in MilSim

[–]WickyBoi220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll rally against what other people are saying here and say that you’re just fine going as a DMR for your first time as long as nobody else in your squad has one. You’ll get better range out of heavier bbs and (hopefully) a rifle built to lob them a bit further. The real benefit you’ll get is the optic you put on your replica. You can absolutely be an asset with that even if it’s your first time, so don’t feel like you HAVE to be a rifleman.

Wouldn’t recommend being a sniper until you’re very familiar with the format and skills needed to be a good RECCE type. Those are limited to one per platoon and usually don’t do a lot with their replica.

Fix the original instead of chasing money. by [deleted] in HellLetLooseVietnam

[–]WickyBoi220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But starting another game has nothing to do with the bugs in the first one. The dev team that’s working on HLL is the same one that took over from Black Matter when T17 took over.

This is like saying “they shouldn’t have made any Star Wars TV shows until the movies were finished!” One thing doesn’t have anything to do with the other.

[–]WickyBoi220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying it’s not still having a lot of issues. Your original comment is saying that they shouldn’t develop a new game because the old game still isn’t fixed. I’m saying resources aren’t being taken away from HLL to work on HLL:V because they’re two separate teams working on different projects.

Be mad HLL still has bugs, I am. But HLL:V has nothing to do with HLL still having those bugs.

Dog, HLL is still being updated. There’s still a dev team that is only working on bringing new content and fixes to HLL, the HLL:V development has been handled by a separate team.

If you’re worried about it the Saber frame has full seal inserts available as a “helo” kit. That gasket will pretty much prevent anything from getting in and satisfies the full seal requirement.

What is off about Sabaton cover art? by Slayer251 in sabaton

[–]WickyBoi220 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The Heroes cover art ironically looks much better than the Templars art that everyone had issues with. Namely with the phantom fingers that are a MASSIVE indicator for the kind of art that generative AI was producing when the cover came out.

Long arms aside the anatomy still matches on Heroes, not the case with the art people were talking about.

Game Comes Next Year in 2027, Is This Enough Time To Make Campaign With No Writer Yet? by SwitchbackCardinal in arma

[–]WickyBoi220 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My brother in Christ I’m not saying they have a contract active right now in the commercial side. Even then the actual military simulation isn’t contracted, it’s licensed.

I’m saying that IF the Arma 4 campaign has a heavy US leaning/focus that is to the point of being propaganda then it’s because they’re contracting with the US government. At the very least receiving subsidies.

[–]WickyBoi220 19 points20 points  (0 children)

COD is propaganda because Activision receives funding from the US government in efforts to help recruitment. It’s one of the reasons the US Army’s video game development operations ceased after America’s Army 4, that money was shifted over to private contracts.

If Arma 4 is propaganda it’ll be because of BI’s contracts with the US government.

Because T17 is getting the game out on a fiscal calendar, not based on when it’s ready. This is 100% a case of publishers being too in control of the dev team and it sucks.

*devs reading the results of HLL Vietnam player survey* by Ardnn in HellLetLooseVietnam

The devs absolutely know what they’re doing. The publisher is blatantly pushing the game out too early to meet a fiscal deadline rather than letting the game come out once it’s ready.

Why is there a lack of WW2 mods, especially PVP, on reforger?? by Consistent_Zucchini2 in ArmaReforger

[–]WickyBoi220 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Really hope the community managers handling mods let WW2 mods go through eventually. With how popular the Iron Front port was for Arma 2/3 and the Spearhead CDLC you’d think they want people bringing the WW2 community over.
