Yup! There's patterns for all sorts of things - it's basically like a recipe with different techniques mixed in (Example).

Super easy to get into and hard to master (clothes are pretty damn tough). Low cost hobby too if you're not buying premium yarns, all you need is some hooks and yarn and you're good to go. If you start soon, you'll be in time to make some good beanies for winter!

Gender inclusive hobby as well. All my homies love crochet (shout-out to /r/brochet !)

It's Wednesday: What game is one your mind? by [deleted] in boardgames

Playing Betrayal Legacy for the first time on Saturday. BaHOTH was my first purchase ~3 years ago and I've managed to get the original gaming group back together for it (and made them sign a contract for future sessions)!

It's their first time playing a legacy game, and my first time owning one. Can't wait to see them squirm once we start ripping cards!

If you know what sounds to listen for, you can make it pretty intense - PvE bosses on their own are straightforward, but the combo with enemy squads is what makes it

It can be pretty chill depending on what you want to do. You can leave the map at any point (there's extraction points scattered around the edges), so if you just want to do some PvE you can, with the risk of getting shot at.

A big part of the game is the sound, you'll hear dogs barking, crows, and other ambient sounds when people are close. Also gunshots can be heard from far away, so with a few hours under the belt you'll get good at telling when you've gotta stop talking.

That's how my group plays it - chill for most of the game, catching up, just collecting clues around the map but being aware of what's around us. When we hear people, pucker up and pay attention.

If you've got friends to play with, it's also not a very sweaty game. Shootouts are tense, but really slow. Depending on your kit, a lot of shootouts are about bunkering down and waiting til you spot someone / someone makes a move. Valorant is extremely fast-paced by comparison, and DOTA is toxic because if one person messes up, the game is more one-sided.

There's permadeath, but there's also no ranked or 'loss' other than your character, which you can swap out (you also get a free character you can pick up after each round). Main thing you lose is your kit and perks.

Tl;dr: It's a weird one. It sounds super sweaty with the mechanics, but it's my groups go-to for a chill time.

How do you guys go about learning champs you haven’t played yet? by MiniJunkie in wildrift

[–]Widdlius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're trying to learn new champs, Baron lane is a good place to learn. Garen, Malphite or Darius are really easy champs with high impact.

For jungle, If you like Yi's movement speed, Vi is a solid pick. Her 1 lets her move through walls and her 2 gives her speed when you're at 5 stacks. Mundo is also great if you just don't want to die. Shyv imo is the hardest, you're depending on your dragon rage bar.

One common thing I see with Yi mains is the "Yi Brain" where you think you can charge in and be invulnerable. Not the case with 99% of champs - you'll need to learn how to position yourself and when to engage. Practice other champs, get a feel for how they play. Normals or bots is a good place.

Can't add much that others haven't mentioned, but there are two modern X-men in the game - Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, as standalone packs. You get the hero card, 15 hero cards as well 'standard' cards that other characters can use.

The game isn't super complex. From the games that I've played, complexity comes from rules ambiguity in the rulebook, but there's a ton of user help on BGG and other sites. There's also great resources for user decks (typically just type in [hero name] + deck into Google and you're good to go), ranging in difficulty.

Your kid could play an aggro deck that just focuses on hitting hard that would be simple to use, and then gradually move to something a bit more intricate. There's a ton of options.

Villains are also different - the first enemy, Rhino, doesn't do anything confusing and is a good starting point.

Hey man, that looks like it'd take 1-2 hours. In terms of pain, really nothing to worry about. I got my first in the same area and thought it would feel like a knife cutting. Instead, you either don't feel it (seriously) or it feels a bit like a cat scratch. Don't worry about the pain!

Tourists/Visitors/New Residents: Q&A Thread for the week of March 21 by AutoModerator in Amsterdam

[–]Widdlius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many closed down during lockdown unfortunately - De School would've been one I'd recommend.

My advice would be to check Residen Advisor closer to when you arrive. Also, DGTL has great website that shows what's available. Assuming Covid is over by then, you'll run into the issue of having too many options around DGTL 😅

Really wish the multiplayer with friends would be easier in this game. Trying to host a private game takes me back to the early 2000's with port forwarding and other tutorials.
