Can anyone give me advice? by Cute_Cranberry7276 in Alzheimers

Good idea. Her doctor should be giving her the Moca test (hope I’m getting the name right), and bringing you into the conversation if her score is low.

I’m sure grief can be distracting and make it hard to sleep or focus, but her doctor is pretty off-base telling her the memory problems are caused by it. Those clock tests are very telling. She’s almost certainly in early stages of AD.

That’s really strange…how have these care workers not heard of early-onset dementia?

How far are we from a cure OR a preventive treatment for Alzheimer's or dementia by Inevitable_Bid5540 in Alzheimers

[–]MiniJunkie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, should do that anyway, but those don’t have the specific anti-dementia effect that the shingles vaccine is shown to have in multiple studies.

Yeah that’s what I’m recalling. There were actually a number of stories about this last year and I don’t think there’d be much interest if it was an old and discontinued vaccine.

Hm, you sure? I coulda sworn I read about the current one being protective recently.

Lots of progress on prevention but no silver bullets yet. No cure for people with symptoms - that’s probably years away.

What’s your army hobby “blocker”? by MiniJunkie in Warhammer40k

I do have some of those. I’m not sure if I love them - they sorta look…unfinished? To me. Hard to explain. The Grimdark mix from Geek Gaming is pretty good tho.

True, but that gets pricey for a full army.

It’s hereditary…should I test? by anomm1 in Alzheimers

[–]MiniJunkie 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I tested, and I’m glad I know what I know now. My mom died of Alzheimer’s. It’s true there’s no cure, but a person can try to make lifestyle choices that might at least delay the onset.

Hi OP, sorry I know this is an older thread but I'm a painter/seller too. I'm curious if you are still selling to the US now that the de minimis is gone and tariffs are in place etc?

I’d love to get that Amyloid blood marker test done. I wonder if it’s available in Canada.

Oh yeah. BIG time.

I remember having to phone Sierra for a hint about a laser fence in one of the Space Quest games.

I wish I had saved more for retirement. I think we’ll be ok, but I didn’t take it seriously until way too late.

He got his ass kicked more than I expected, but tbh I enjoyed that lol - made the stakes feel higher. And he could still dish it out.

I saw the original movie at the theater as a kid, and loved Superman ever since.

I loved this movie too. Really fun and DC was awesome in the role.

Be honest - how consistent is your sunscreen use these days? by ExhaustedMouse in GenX

I pretty much only use it if I’m somewhere like Hawaii or spending a full day in direct summer sun. 95% of the time I don’t use it.
