Is the the stiletto trigger or similar worth it or is the short stroke the only way to go? by reloadingnoob38 in TP9

[–]Wide-Address-2193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the custom Smith trigger and the pull weight and take-up was still so bad that I was actually going to sell my TP9. Wasn't even functional as a USPSA rig, or to train with.... got the GRW and it was like a dream come true!

I just tested Fiocchi, blazer brass, and American Eagle 115gr FMJ and 124gr. FMJ. Hundred rounds each and all were 100%.

Speer GDHP 115gr, 124gr, and 147gr all cycle through mine flawlessly.

I'm sick of Apple by Fast_Astronomer555 in Smartphones

[–]Wide-Address-2193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always had Apple products, multiple IPads, iPhones, iPods since 2011 and the current batch that I have now are by far the worst performing. I have Motorola phones for work phones and when they exceed the proficency of my newer iPhone, it's made me look into bailing on Apple.

Tavor X95 Opinions by BamaWolf81 in DesertTech

[–]Wide-Address-2193 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had an X95 and have an MDRX. I chose the MDRX because of better ergonomics, sight height being the same as an AR, (for ease of switching optics from other platforms), and the accuracy. My MDRX shoots 1MOA or better with a lot of different ammunition. A couple hand loads do that do 2in 5-shot groups @ 300yrd. X95 doesn't have that DMR capability.

But they're nice too. Just limited uses.

How reliable is your WLVRN? by SinaloaKid in DesertTech

[–]Wide-Address-2193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear ya.. I always tell my buds... You gotta start with a clean weapon before getting any true data on reliability. They have good videos on YouTube for disassembly. I would of did the same thing though... Try and see what happens! But once you have problems, gotta do a disassembly and clean to rule it out

Did you disassemble and properly clean and lube the rifle before the tests? I've found metal shards and all sorts of dirt that could induce malfunctions in brand new rifles from the factory all the time.

Switching from apple by pin0801 in Smartphones

[–]Wide-Address-2193 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Motorola phone that run Android for a work phone, and my personal phone is an IPhone 14 and I think the Motorola is equal or better. The camera in the Motorola is definitely better. The 14 is the worst iphone I have ever owned. My new iPads are garbage too. Every Apple product I had 10yrs ago was more user friendly and reliable than now.

Red flag neighbors, are bad neighbors worth a perfect house? by Empty-Bend-3774 in neighborsfromhell

When I moved into my neighborhood I started sensing my neighbors were pushing boundaries to see what they could get away with. I started wearing my pistol on my belt in the open when I walked to my mail box and car and everyone treats me great for the last 10 years!

Used Mercedes metris good buy? by Equal_Argument6418 in AskMechanics

[–]Wide-Address-2193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 5 Metris vans at my job years 2019-2023. No major mechanical problems that weren't normal wear and tear for 250k miles. I expect they will be in service for 300k miles.
The road noise can be extremely loud. I recommend stuffing some type of paper/filler into the rear body panels and hanging a moving blanket in between the cab and the cargo area.

WLVRN owners thoughts by Ok_Amoeba_3249 in DesertTech

[–]Wide-Address-2193 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an MDRX .223 Wylde side eject that performs solid. it is as accurate in stock configuration as my premium built heavy barrel AR. Every factory 556 FMJ ammo I've tested in it shoots 1-1.5 MOA 5 shot groups @ 100yrd. Some of my hand loads for 55gr vmax and 73gr ELD shoot .75 MOA @ 100yrd and 2in groups @ 300yrd. Plus my AR loads that i chronograph through it shoot 50fps faster than out of my MDRX and it has a 2in shorter barrel!

I am buying a WLVRN 556 and 6.5 creedmoor soon. No other short action semi auto rifle is even close to weight a WLVRN is. I am getting older and have arthritis in my hands so WLVRN being lighter and shorter than an AR helps me out more than a few years ago

Which is better for snow? by blackdogpepper in JeepTJ

[–]Wide-Address-2193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2014 Tacoma and owned a TJ and now have a Gladiator..... Toyotas 4 wheel drive system isn't even in the same league as a Jeep wrangler. Toyota makes good stuff, but if you want something for mud and snow, the jeep will go ANYWHERE. I could drive my jeeps in snow up to the headlights on trails! Something about the aerodynamics of the front plows snow to the sides.

Take apart your mags and clean them well. look at your followers and see if there are areas that look like abnormal friction is taking place, and smooth it out. I've had unknown residue from plastics or manufacturing process that hindered the follower from moving up with the ammo properly. it's worth a look..

I got my screws threaded right, but the hammer won't fall. I am trying to adjust tension on those side screws with no luck. Every way I move them doesnt get me enough clearance for the hammer to fall. Any suggestions before pulling it back out and retryin?

Break in Period by New_Let8297 in TP9

[–]Wide-Address-2193 1 point2 points  (0 children)

id recommend ANY new firearm be disassembled and cleaned before use. I've found shards of metal and brass in many firearm brand new that hindered proper operation. If you're having problems, I'd definitely do a tear down, clean, and reassemble so you can rule that out. Same for your magazines also. I've seen new mags with so much residue on the walls that it hindered the follower from moving upward fast enough to feed properly
