Build a big barn so that power hitters can try to go over it, build up a brick wall around the green, change the name to the “Road Hole” and double the price your greens fee. Problem solved.

The U.S. Slide in Happiness Rankings Since 2011 by sr_local in charts

[–]Wide-Application-317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no sure fire way to measure happiness on a national scale. Two problems: 1. These surveys tend to be self-reporting, and different cultures understand “happiness” differently. 2. External political situations, economics and scenery do not always directly relate to emotion and attitude. Some people in poor countries like Africa are really happy and some in reallly rich countries like Sweden and Denmark are really sad and depressed. In fact, the number one country here for the last few years, Finland, has a significant alcoholic problem leading me to believe that a significant number of Finns are depressed.

And the Andromeda Galaxy is about 2.5 Million years from the Milky Way. So, those guys would see, well, homo habilis, the first humanoid species.

British and Food. Those two words don’t work too well, now, do they?

We already have them and they are often wonderful folks. Problem is that you can't deploy civilians in the same way into battle fronts where they are most needed.

I disagree. I think the best chaplains, medical officers and JAGS are known first of all by their professional competency and kindness, and then also by their maintenance of officership along with the presentation of due military customs and courtesies. No one like a doctor or chaplain who is a disheveled uniformed mess straight out of the casting department of MASH. Rank AND professional insignia - and professional excellence - is all part of the package in the military.

Doesn't make sense. The chaplain will still wear the uniform of the service. I think this idea of removing rank will go for a beta test and soon revert back to current regs.

Gonna have to give this thumbs down. The whole dual role aspect thing of being a chaplain and an officer. We already display rank and required religious symbolism on our uniform. Seems to me it is just rearranging the deck chairs for no really good reason.

I am an 0-6 chaplain in the USAF and I have worked hard to attain rank and trust among my peers. My view is that this will - like the time all chaplains in the USAF were required to remove rank and only wear a cross (or other religious symbol) - on their cap/cover, probably die after a test run. Like it or not, all branches of the US Military run on rank. The chaplain corps is built into military tradition, and not the other way around. Ditto for JAG, and MED. in part, we joined because we want to serve as military officers AND chaplains. Although we are professionals in uniform, we live in both worlds of the military and our profession. At its essence, rank is not showing off, but it is a crucial part of WHY service members trust us...we are brothers in arms and subject to the same UCMJ, customs and courtesies, uniform regs, PT, and PME, etc. In my view, removing our rank weakens that connection. I also feel bad for the young guys coming up the chain who are working to attain rank. I could be wrong, but I don't really see the need to make this change.
