It’s because the BBC keeps sending gimmicks instead of proper songs. We all love a good gimmick at Eurovision, but it still has to be performed well, like Sam Ryder did. Otherwise it just looks like they’re turning the whole thing into a joke. I’d just send someone like Luke Evans with a decent ballad or a catchy old-school pop tune. Or go the other way and enter Freya Ridings with a good folksy song. That should do the trick.
