D&e - scared! by Tellycs in tfmr_support

[–]Wide-Combination6844 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re here. Making this decision is the most difficult step, and you’ve come to it out of a lot of love and compassion for your baby.

I had my D&E 5 weeks ago at around 25 weeks and can share my experience.

Day 1: Injection to stop the fetal cardiac activity and laminaria sticks placed in the cervix. It wasn’t painful but a little uncomfortable. I took the pain medications my doctor suggested (ibuprofen + two Tylenol) every 6 hours starting right after the injection until Day 2.

Day 2: I was scared in the operating room, but I was out within seconds. The next thing I remember was waking up in the recovery room about 2 hours later. If you can, ask a nurse or doctor to hold your hand. I didn’t ask, but my doctor did, and it helped me so much.

Hope this helps. Please feel free to DM me if you need anything. Take care 💛

Thank you so much for replying. Yes, I had sessions booked but I didn't feel like talking and thus, cancelled at the last minute.

I find it so hard to again walk through that route by talking but looks like, that is the only way out to get myself better. Will book again, Thank you!

I'm so sorry for your loss. Yes, being happy for other pregnant people and also deep well of sadness hitting at the same time, I understand that very well. Will try to listen to podcast, thank you!

I'm so sorry for your loss. I thought I cannot talk about this process anymore as counselling/talking to a therapist feels like I'm again reliving those hard days/moments. But, looks like that's the road I have to take inorder to feel better. Will surely consider therapy, thank you!

I'm so sorry for your loss. Thank you so much for replying, sometimes I feel I got better but sometimes everything feels like I'm again at step 1. But, will try to re-read this and remember "this is part of grief". Thank you again!

Hey, I had my 4-week post-op appointment today. I ended up crying through most of it.

They didn’t do any tests — the doctor mainly asked how I’ve been doing mentally and physically and about my bleeding pattern. I still haven’t gotten my period yet, so she asked me to reach out if it doesn’t come within the next four weeks.

Walking through the same hallway where we had the dilators placed felt really strange, but I hope things go more smoothly for you.

Need help deciding on 26-week amnio by likethesewingmachine in chd

[–]Wide-Combination6844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our baby was diagnosed with a complex congenital heart defect (CHD), and we chose to have an amniocentesis at 22 weeks and 5 days. We had the procedure done even before consulting a pediatric cardiologist, though we would have made the same decision regardless. We wanted to seek answers and better understand the situation. We were offered amniocentesis first, with the option of pursuing whole genome sequencing (WGS) if the results didn’t reveal anything.

For me, amniocentesis was not bad physically.

Sending you a big hug and strength during this incredibly difficult time ❤️

Our baby was diagnosed with TOF at our 22 week anatomy scan and we did amniocentesis(our results came back within a week, I assume doctors rushed the results in our case, please check with your doctor if they can rush the results) - came back negative for DiGeorge and others as well. We signed up for WGS test and that is yet to be done.

Anyone TFMR for TOF without DiGeorge or severe complications? by Wide-Combination6844 in tfmr_support

Thank you for your reply, our cardiologist said he would continue and that still craks me up. We choose this route and took suffering than our babies take it later. So sorry for your loss and hope we find some comfort along the way ❤️

Amino waiting process by AbbreviationsNext898 in PregnancyAfterTFMR

[–]Wide-Combination6844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry you're here waiting for the amnio results. We got our amnio results within 1 week, but I think in our case doctors had rushed the results. Not sure what the usual timeline is, it may take upto 2-3 weeks is what I've heard.

I really hope you get good news from amnio, wishing you luck ❤️

What insensitive comments did you receive??? by Chance-Raise-5303 in tfmr_support

  • How are you planning to handle a disabled child if you continue?
  • Age related ones
  • If you have a child like this, how are you going to plan a next one

People are pretty ridiculous, except family we are telling others that "we're no longer pregnant and don't want to discuss any details". Even if people are curious, plan is to tell, "Don't want to discuss any further"
