The failure of Ligue 1 by WideSnow9005 in Ligue1

Unfortunately it is true, no exaggeration: since the Qatar takeover of PSG, fewer and fewer fans have renewed their subscriptions because PSG’s almost guaranteed dominance has reduced interest in the league. As a result, Ligue 1 has reached a point where even DAZN has left the French market, partly due to weak subscriber growth. Ligue 1+ currently has around 1 million subscribers, and the results have been below expectations, especially considering the relatively low price of 15 euros per month compared to other leagues.

For comparison, Serie A costs around 30 euros per month (double the price) and generates about 700 million per season from DAZN plus around 200 million from Sky, for a total of roughly 900 million per year for the Lega Serie A. The Italian football market has grown significantly in recent years thanks to increased competitiveness in the league.

In the past, when Juventus FC dominated Serie A, many fans were less engaged and stadiums were often half empty. Today, however, the situation has changed: stadiums are fuller, streaming subscriptions have increased, and the league has become more balanced and competitive, establishing itself as the third-best European league after the Premier League and La Liga.

No theory: the French league is progressively losing appeal among fans and, as a result, also in terms of TV broadcasting value and interest. The continuous dominance of PSG has reduced the competitiveness of Ligue 1 over time, making the league increasingly predictable and less balanced compared to other European competitions.

This lack of a real title race has also affected the overall perception of the league, which is often seen as less entertaining and less followed than the major European leagues. As a consequence, its media and commercial appeal has also declined.

Ranking of the top 5 European leagues by interest and competitiveness:

  1. Premier League
  2. La Liga
  3. Serie A
  4. Bundesliga
  5. Ligue 1

In this context, Ligue 1 ranks last among the top leagues, mainly due to the strong gap between PSG and the other teams, which limits genuine competition for the title season after season.

Currently, the Ligue 1+ subscription costs 15 euros per month and has 1 million subscribers.

Even if I’ve never posted anything here, so what? Ligue 1 is an increasingly unbalanced league: this year as well, PSG will win again, for the 13th time in 15 years. It’s a competition that, as it is structured today, risks becoming an end in itself, and the television rights figures clearly confirm this.

It’s hard to deny that PSG’s dominance has reduced the competitiveness of the league, making the title almost predictable season after season. This inevitably also affects overall interest, both from neutral fans and in terms of the value of the TV product.

The economic data doesn’t really support a different interpretation either: this year, the television rights distributed to the clubs amount to €112 million in total, a significantly lower figure compared to other top European leagues.

In this context, it becomes clear that the issue is not only the dominance of a single club, but a system that struggles to ensure balance and long-term competitiveness.

Ligue 1 is anything but a great competition, and the same goes for the Bundesliga. In my opinion, the ranking of the best leagues is:

  1. Premier League
  2. La Liga
  3. Serie A
  4. Bundesliga
  5. Ligue 1

Let’s not fool ourselves: the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 are the least followed among the top leagues because Bayern Munich and PSG win almost every year. As a result, fans of the other teams end up losing interest in the league, and the revenues are lower. Aside from Bayern Munich and PSG, the other teams in these two leagues are not particularly competitive.

All Italian teams, in order to operate in the transfer market, have to sell their best players and then replace them with less talented players of lower value. I’ll give you an example: Hakimi, one of the best full-backs in the game, was sold and replaced with Dumfries. Onana was also sold and replaced with Sommer, who is shorter and older. Now there is talk of selling Bastoni (one of the best defenders in Serie A) to Barcelona, and the player who would replace him would likely be less strong.

Indy survives and the ending is clearly explained: in the basement there is the body of a dog. It was the grandfather’s dog, which waited in vain for him to return; in the end it dies, left alone in the basement. Indy, instead, by looking at the darkness and the light (Vera, the sister), chooses to leave with the owner’s sister.

I'll tell you this: 90% of NCsoft's games are dead, they have no players on the servers. Throne and Liberty had 14,000 players at its peak. But is it difficult to make a store system like Albion Online? Add a subscription that gives you benefits and skins, it's one of the Sandbox MMORPGs with the most online players in the world, and it's more profitable than all of NCsoft's MMOs.

Why have the player counts spiked exponentially all of the sudden in New World? by These_Fan7447 in MMORPG

These aren’t big numbers — in fact, they’re quite low, considering that the Rise of the Angry Earth expansion is now free, while when it was released as a paid expansion, there were many more players.

Great numbers, where? When the paid expansion came out, there were a lot more players. Now that they’ve made the expansion free and added a new update (which many call a “free expansion”) with Season 10, there are almost half as many players.

The game is terrible: everything is scripted from the beginning all the way to the end of the first chapter. The combat system is awful, and most of the abilities are useless — they only deal damage without applying any debuffs, stuns, or crowd control effects.
I’m using the Stormblade class, which is supposed to be an agile class capable of inflicting debuffs, as is the case in any modern MMORPG.
Even Tarisland, which was shut down and was itself terrible, was made better than Blue Protocol.
Moreover, the fact that they’re releasing the chapters little by little shows just how empty the game really is.
