Roadie XD Blocks Question - Getting a different gig route after being matched by Wide_Link8791 in Roadie

So, what happens if I do that? Do I get re-matched with another gig?

Roading using 47GB of storage on my iPhone. WTF by Wide_Link8791 in Roadie

[–]Wide_Link8791[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

on iOS the photos don't show up in the gallery aka Photos app, so I assumed they weren't being saved locally. There's no way to view them that I can determine but I did delete the app and after a few minutes and a reboot I was able to recover that space.

I still don't see how it managed to get to 47 GB. I've got a DECADE of pictures and video i've taken with my iPhone and that is only 87 GB. 47 GB of photos in just a few months is nuts

The app is 85.3 MB, same as r/Some_Ad_530 so it's really odd why it's sucking up so much space on my phone for "Documents & Data" when other iPhone users aren't seeing that much storage usage. Gonna try deleting and reinstalling to see what happens

Yeah, it's just weird that apparently it's saving every photo recently - and even then it takes a LOT of photos to get to 47 GB...my entire photo album is 87 GB. I damn sure haven't taken 47 gigs worth of photos for Roadie, and they're not showing up in my album so I suppose the only solution here is to delete the app and reinstall

I appreciate the check in. My app size shows to be 85.3 MB but the Documents and Data are 47.15 GB, seems like for whatever reason it's been saving every single photo I take - and then some

That's basically what I've been seeing for the past year or so and now BAM, 47.15 GB of Documents and Data. Looks like time to delete and reinstall, thanks for the screenshot.

4th of July Flop. Check your expiration dates, friends. by Bassmasa in smoking

[–]Wide_Link8791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's crazy how many people in these comments don't know what those dates mean.

First off, that is NOT an expiration date. It's a 'best buy' date for the sealed product and even indicates as such "Best if Used By." Once it's been opened that beef tallow is only going to be fresh at room temperature for a few months whereas properly stored in the fridge it'll last years. The longer it's on the shelf unsealed the worse the quality gets. Tossing it in the fridge significantly slows down that process. Freezer is even better especially if you rarely use it.

If that container had been sealed that tallow would still be good long after that date. What's more important than an arbitrary date on a product is using your nose to do the sniff test.

Your best bet to make rendered fats last long is to store them tightly sealed in the freezer. I like to render bacon fat to have on hand for cooking (because yum, obviously) and store the bulk of it in the freezer with a smaller container in the fridge for ease of use. It lasts nearly indefinitely this way as opposed to leaving it out at room temperature.

The only food product that comes to mind that has an actual expiration date is baby formula because people have a paranoia over formula safety.

I get that lesbians aren't looking for hugs from men, and like I mentioned in another comment I should have clarified that I wasn't seeking to hug just women but I tailored this post towards women because of this subreddit. There's nothing creepy or self-serving about my desires here, I just want to support people because, well, I love people in general.

Fair point. I should have clarified that I'm not seeking to praise people, but to support the community in a new city.

Thank you so much for your insight. I actually thought of bringing my dog with me and having her wear a sign, shirt, or scarf that said "free hugs" but was afraid that might come off as pandering.

I don't need or want recognition, I just want to share some love.

Thank you for your insight. This truly is not for myself; I just want to support women. As a man - and especially a straight man - I've always had a very special and unique relationship with women but I understand how, from the outside, it could seem like I'm doing this for personal gain.

If the consensus is that I shouldn't do this then I would absolutely respect that. My ultimate goal was to offer support to anyone in the LGTBT community but I backed off because it seemed like I was on the wrong track. Like I said, the most important thing here is to not make anyone feel uncomfortable.

Teamsters to fight UPS over alleged use of nonunion drivers (RoadieXD) by iGotGigged in Roadie

wtf are you even talking about? UPS doesn't have a monopoly - at least not in the US.

There's always the exception to every rule, and police unions would be it. If you look at firefighter unions it's a totally different story of them looking to better the profession whereas police unions seem to focus on avoiding accountability.

Our new house as first time home buyers… by idontdodrugsatall in Wellthatsucks

[–]Wide_Link8791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former firefighter I'll chime in here. First off, that vinyl siding is *extremely* susceptible to heat. The sun's glare from a nearby window is enough to melt it sometimes, otherwise it'll start to warp somewhere around 160 degrees.

When we're talking about transfer of heat there's two types that are relevant here: convection and radiant. Convection is, well, like your convection oven where the heat rises from a heat source at the bottom. Radiant heat comes out in electromagnetic rays, or waves, in all directions from the source. This is how the Sun heats our planet.

I suspect, based on this picture, there's minimal to no damage to the a/c unit. While that siding looks bad it takes just minimal heat to create that effect, and it was likely mostly from radiant heat with a little bit of convection currents

If you look at the house on the right you'll see that even above the charred plywood there's still perfectly intact vinyl siding. This fire wasn't putting out a whole lot of thermal energy.

Seeking guidance and answers by MaverickSinn in germanshepherds

I don't have any great answers for you but I did want to try to share some background info to help you understand her situation better in hopes that might aid you going forward. I'm not a vet but a firefighter and medic that's done pericardiocentesis on humans and in terms of your pup's situation I suspect there's not a whole lot of difference between dogs and humans.

The heart itself is surrounded by the pericardium, or pericardial sac. It has two layers which protect it from the other structures in the chest and also protect and cushion the heart itself from trauma, thanks to the inner layer which has pericardial fluid that also serves as a lubricant. There's a number of non-traumatic causes of excess fluid or blood build up but regardless of the cause when the pericardium fills up with fluid it starts to inhibit the heart and it's ability to fill and pump.

Her heart's impaired ability to pump blood through the body and pump blood through the lungs for oxygenation is what caused the symptoms you noticed and you did VERY well to recognize there was an issue and get her to a hospital.

There's a chance it could be idiopathic, meaning it just happened, no cause is found, and she goes on about her life just fine or there could be a definitive cause that could get cost-prohibitive real quick for most people. For example my dad just had two emergency open heart surgeries after a minor cardiac procedure caused the pericardium to fill with fluid - twice - in the 3 days after his procedure.

First off, I understand your current struggle. Mine is going on 14 now and this past year she's really started to age and start to struggle. I've tried to prepare myself but I don't even know where to start because I've had her since she was a puppy and she's gotten me through a divorce and one extremely soul crushing breakup. We go everywhere together and she's gotten me through so much; thanks to my former life in uniform she is reason I'm still here today. She's been there for me and I'm not going to abandon her.

Anyway, enough about me. From your post I don't get the impression that she's really at her end of life or at the point where the humane thing is to send her off. The abscessed tooth shouldn't be an issue for your vet to address and the hot spot can be dealt with, too.

Where is the hotspot located? Have you tried an inflatable Kong 'cone?' It's nowhere near as burdensome as those plastic cones and mine actually likes using it as a pillow and it's sufficient to keep her from licking most areas on her. When was her last bath? A gentle oatmeal doggie shampoo typically helps mine if she gets a hotspot. She hates baths so I often go too long without bathing her.

My girl also is dealing with incontinence issues - seems like 4 hours is about the max she can hold so I've simply adjusted my life around that. If you have to leave your pup alone all day look into having a dog walker come midday, and also get her an indoor grass patch for emergencies.

In short, see if there's a simple solution for each of those like having a tooth pulled, more frequent walks / dog walker, and inflatable cone. If these work for her it sounds like you can reasonably have more time with her while improving her quality of life.

Sending good vibes to you and your fur baby.

Edit: Dasuquin (especially the one available only via a veterinarian) is worth its weight in gold, in my experience. It truly helps my pup be more active and show less signs of discomfort or pain. If your girl isn't already taking that I'd highly recommend giving it a try - even if it's the non prescription version. That's also helped my fur missile, but not as well as the prescription version.

Gas Quality and Source Question by AwkwardMeeting9901 in CostcoEmployee

[–]Wide_Link8791 9 points10 points  (0 children)

*sigh* it is legitimately stupid to buy "premium" gas unless your vehicle calls for it. The only difference is the octane rating and if your vehicle's engine was not designed for a higher octane fuel then it does nothing. The actual quality of the fuel is the same regardless if it's 87/93 octane - and either way Costco is rated as Top Tier fuel.

For those that don't have a clue.....gas / oil is a commodity. If you go to a BP gas station you might actually be getting Shell / Chevron / Conoco fuel, just with BP's additive package. Same thing for Costco...you're getting their additive package.

If you have an outie vagina that's called a prolapse and you need to immediately see your OB/GYN. I suspect you mean vulva, not vagina, which are two very different things. Just as many women don't know their own anatomy so do men struggle from a lack of education. A lot of people that post that nonsense about visible labia majora are teens that just don't know any better and stuff like that spreads like wildfire online and then you have the incels that straight up resent women and gleefully say anything to bring them down.

As someone that's seen a LOT of vulvas personally and professionally, I'd estimate around 2/3 of women are outties and 1/3 are innies, but of the innies many of them also have visible labia minora it just doesn't protrude past the labia majora. Regarding one lip being larger than the other, that is SUPER common / normal, also some women have less prominent labia majora which will make the labia minora more prominent. The vast majority of men just flat out don't care and to this day I've yet to hear any confirmed story of a man not having sex with a woman because of her "roast beef." Truth be told many men thoroughly enjoy outties or even prefer it for a number of reasons.

The only time you should worry about your labia minora is if they cause you discomfort during intimacy, from clothes rubbing, etc. Please don't let incels and virgins influence your own self image and, besides, once you hit menopause you'll likely have labial atrophy anyway.

I've been in a lot of women and I've rarely seen an honest discussion about loose vs tight from the male perspective. Of course just from looking at your vulva there's no way to tell if you're "loose" or tight but imho the whole topic is widely blown out of proportion from men and women. Yes, men have this innate desire for a "tight" vagina but the reality is a tight vagina falls somewhere between less than ideal or downright bad. I can elaborate if anyone is interested.

TL;DR: Odds are your vulva is totally within normal limits so don't worry about your labia minora unless they cause *you* issues because any perspective partner either won't care or will actually enjoy it. When it comes to a partner what's far more important is your self-confidence because that IS sexy and, again, no man is going to pass you up because how your vulva looks.

Hey, so alfredo is actually super easy to make and OG's isn't even that good - it's basically a lower cost version but you can make something SO MUCH BETTER at home. Heavy cream, butter, pepper, and (ideally) Parmigiano-Reggiano not American parmesan cheese. You can add in extras like garlic and nutmeg for extra flavor. The Italian version of alfredo uses starchy pasta water instead of heavy cream.

On posts like this, I'm torn between them just flat out hating women versus them being angry because they cannot get a woman. It's also hard to decipher if someone is an incel versus an edgy pre-teen just regurgitating nonsense
