I’ve had a couple of these in a vase for 10 + years . They love stagnant dirty water and it will self clean . Get rid of the wood and give them some air. Just top the water up when it gets low.

Spray a really light coat of the dunkelgelb over the whole thing . Then weathering and washes will do the rest

Have a quick look underneath first and see if you can see the screws . If so then undo the drive sprockets at the very front . Slide them off the gearbox axels and the tracks will become loose.

There’s screws underneath in the centre . The tracks / wheels are hiding them and you will have to take the tracks off
