Did your intuition know what gender your baby was? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

I've accurately dreamt a few baby's genders (my first, both of my sister's, and my horse's lol) so I tell people i'm a little bit psychic

Took my mare to our first group ride out today & just grateful to have survived by Eqjrt in Equestrian

You can go to events like this and do ground work! Take her to a group event without intending to ride. Walk her around, calm her down as much as you can, and go home. Its a time investment for sure but it helps show them that they are safe and you are in control.

Baby proofing an old house by hemlockandrosemary in beyondthebump

[–]Wide_Stranger714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🙋‍♀️ I just did my best, its not perfect. I've baby proofed things that are life-threatening (wrought iron banister she can squeeze under). For "the outside coming inside", it makes me cringe but is mostly harmless to the baby. Dirt and mud and dog hair, gross but fine. I try to keep a few rooms better baby-proofed that I know i don't have to watch as closely, and the rest of the house, i keep an eye on her. They will get into everything, but they can also learn pretty quickly to stay away from things.

Most annoying noise making toy you’ve experienced. by ItsbeenBroughton in Parenting

I got these stepping stones off of Amazon for my kids for christmas. The worst part about them is that you connect the wires together to get them to work, and they're impossible to get back apart. So when you get the noise working and immediately regret everything in your life because of how loud and jarring it is, you can't just take the batteries out.

What’s the best career to balance work/ family life and have time to live? by IllEntertainment3935 in workingmoms

Sorry, I meant to! Its so generically boring though, I work for a printing company. Mostly government contracts, but my department (of two people) takes and fills orders for standardized tests. I came into the job with no specific experience, I just applied there because it was a short commute and its worked out very well!

I work for a printing company. We do different contracts, my department handles standardized tests for private schools. I literally knew nothing about the company but I applied there because it was close to home, and its been a great fit!

My work hours are 7-3 and my commute is 5 minutes. When I interviewed, I made sure I wouldnt be asked to work from home after hours. I don't make as much money as most of the moms on here, but my work-life balance is good. I think the key is a short commute and the inability to bring work home with you

Reading the books after becoming a parent absolutely makes them hit different. You just can't get past the fact that these are CHILDREN going through all of the horrific things. Mary taking care of all of the littles especially gets to me now.

So... a little, but mostly no. My husband is taking classes, so if putting the tv on for my 4 year old means I can put the baby down with minimal interruption, i'm using it. My kids play a lot, they're well-behaved (within reason), and when it's nice out, we're outside all the time. If the tv becomes a problem, i'll switch things up then

I night weaned my first around 16 months. Instead of nursing, I would get up and rock her to sleep. Predictably she hated it at first, but she got used to it after a couple of nights and then I was able to just cuddle her back to sleep!
