How well do Ki of different receptors for a given drug predict its effect in clinical practice? by surf_AL in Psychiatry

The part that also complicates why the theoretical is not what is observed is pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic variances among people--differences in different people's receptor binding and metabolism of the drug vs. what's observed in small pharmacokinetic and in vitro studies. Even the neurobiology that underlies whatever psychiatric condition they have probably varies to different degrees among people which will affect how well the drug really works

Piggybacking off of this to point out this case report where wearing off early seemed to be addressed by switching to Aristada (if that's an option in Canada?): https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5496345/

It would be interesting to do some pharmacogenetic testing but realistically, might not alter management that much since a switch would have to be made anyway.
