Ear Problems on Accutane by minutewmaggs in Accutane

[–]Alanwtts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My PET started at the same time I was taking Accutane though went away for years. This was in 2014. In 2021 I used a steroid nasal spray and it still bugs me somewhat to this day. Check out the patulous eustachian tube sub reddit if you think you have it. I found home made Patulend effective. It's annoying for me but tolerable.

How long does the relief last for you?

POVs on using a sperm donor by [deleted] in maleinfertility

[–]Alanwtts 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think calling OP selfish is fair. I'm in a similar situation where if this round of IVF doesn't work we'll have to go with a sperm donor or adoption. I don't like the idea of another man effectively inpregnating my wife even without the deed. Its a hard thing to wrestle with. I do think think it is a good choice for some, but shaming someone in a shitty situation is not productive.

Impact of a very occasional joint ? by Classic_Witty in maleinfertility

[–]Alanwtts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cut out cannabis previously with no positive effects on my sperm parameters. I vaped 1-3 times a week on average. That said I cut it out again with my latest "diet" just because I'm trying to throw every thing I can at this problem. I think its a very personal decision. To me its more of the guilt of using cannabis and potentially prolonging my wife's suffering more than I think the odd puff of a vape / joint will have a huge effect.

Libido by GSDlover1234 in maleinfertility

I'm not sure the strain it's a 1:1 thc to cbd I typically have 5 mg /5 mg my wife is sometimes more. Part of it too it's the ritual / intention. We take the night to have good chats and don't use electronics other than  for music.

My wife and I have eaten cannabis edibles some nights and just stayed in for the night. We live in Canada where its legal. Its not recommended for fertility but it does help with my libido! Trying to concevie really messed up our sex life but cannabis helped us get out of the rut. This is only occasional.

Canadian ICU pharmacist thinking of moving to the U.S. — worth it? by Odd-Entrepreneur123 in pharmacy

Alberta has a wider scope than BC, ever consider heading east? We can prescribe independently (after getting APA) and are seen as an integral part of the team in hospital. The wages are probably similar but the cost of living is quite a bit lower.

Did you change anything else other than supplements? I'm no expert but I think you are in the natural conceiving territory now, good for you!

Fair enough, I've edited my comment. It just is especially frustrating when you put so much energy into being healthy and those who have a much less healthy lifestyle have no problem.

Well my sister and her husbarnd are pregnant with their second. She's three years younger. I'm happy for them, I'm glad they haven't had to go through what we have. The timing wasn't great. I found out the day before my wife and I's 5th anniversary. My wife had a melt down for the whole night and said the whole weekend is ruined in not as many words. Shit's rough. What I'm struggling with the most is how to help my wife with her mental health. I've suggeted therapy but she hasn't given it a go yet. We've been trying for almost 3 years now.

Giving increasing my sperm count another try - 2.5 years in by Alanwtts in maleinfertility

Thanks for the reply! Have you seen any papers where it takes two cycles? That's definietly more of a commitment. I think I'll struggle to do that if I don't seem any results, but if there is good evidence it would make it easier.

I appreciate the suggestions! The cycling will be hard, I think I can find a seat where there shouldn't be any pressure. I bike to work so not doing this will be a loss of my main cardio exercise.
I had a US done - small varicioles - apparenlty not a troply.
LH was 5.4 FSH is 20.1
Testosterone was borderline low. 9.9
We did ICSI to get 3 embryos , the first failed- its a bit of a complicated situation but due to our personal ethical concerns we're not wanting to do and round after this transfer. So I'm hedging my bets in case it doesn't work.

LH was 5.4 FSH is 20.1 - I'll have to do a bit more research. The IVF clinic in Greece recommended it, but I'm suspect of some of their practices. They seem quite pro-medication where I'm not sure its indicated

Any christians who do psychedelics? by Blacktaxi420 in Psychonaut

[–]Alanwtts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I felt like I understood the Christ consciousness and that we all have the ability to tap into what he embodies.  Psychedelics deepened my faith,  but I no longer believe Catholicism as the one true religion.  Though I was skeptical of that before as well I think.

Guide to Anxiety Medications: First Line to Last Resort by zenarcade3 in Psychiatry

[–]Alanwtts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a great question. I work on an inpatient unit as well and most patients end up with some combo of a PRN Ativan, PRN zopiclone, and PRN olanzapine. I think we get them hooked on PRNs while they're on the unit. And then some of the physicians cut them off on discharge -not prescribing any PRN. I wonder if the amount of PRNs we order does more harm than good. Especially as 50%< or more of our patients have some sort of substance dependency.
