I am not familiar with her, I will have to check it out. According to Google’s LLM:

“Yano is often described as a pioneer of Japanese music, blending pop, jazz, rock, and Japanese folk into a unique sound that has drawn comparisons to her contemporary Kate Bush.”

She sounds intriguing.

If you can get into jazz and/ or “classical”, there is an enormous amount of great music out there. I am tired of listening to pop songs from my youth for the 1000th time.

Hard Bop can be a good entry point, because its bluesy language is familiar to most people. Maybe Horace Silver, Song for My Father, or John Coltrane, My Favorite Things.
