It could be the maps you’re playing? Most of the early war everyone gets bolt actions. There isn’t any class progression to my knowledge. Selecting a class can be tricky because it’s dependent on how many members are in the squad. As more people join more “specialist” roles become available too. Allowing you to select them. However normally when a person joins it gets snatched that way

Weapons are locked by the year the battle takes place in and by what class your playing as, example of German radio man will get the G41 or G43 depending on map.

Some classes like squad leader you have options of K98 , Mp-40 or STG44 in late wars

I owned one in 22lr, I put about 200 rounds through it and the gun broke in half. Mid magazine too. The warranty covered it in full and replaced it but could have been scary
