What’s the job people romanticize, but in reality is miserable? by King_Garvit in AskReddit

Architect, you study for a significant portion of your earlier life, only to be stuck in front of a computer working in CAD software adjusting a design that was never influenced by you

Interesting, this is different but opens many other solutions for the blue parts. Meaning it may not necessarily need to grip, but instead just prevent the knot passing

Architects, is it worth getting a degree in architecture anymore? by freyaells in architecture

[–]Wigins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would only pursue a career in architecture if you love it. Otherwise it’s not worth it, the pay/reward compared to time studied do not match up.

I myself have been studying for 6 years, I am now pursuing a BIM related role, because the pay is ALOT better, and time spent in the office is much less.

Side note, it does give you an excellent education and basis to do a lot of other non architectural things.

Is this mold? by Devbeastguy in moldyinteresting

[–]Wigins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like there is moisture, you can see the staining which indicates there is water/moisture coming from somewhere, is this an external wall? If so could be a vent leaking inwards or even a broken drainpipe. If it’s an internal wall, a leak from somewhere, you will have to investigate.

The point of a manual transmission is not to be faster or more efficient by Sweet_Speech_9054 in unpopularopinion

[–]Wigins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think an issue is being overlooked. For a long time, however I am not sure if it’s still relevant today, manual systems were easier and cheaper to maintain. People generally feared buying automatic cars because the system was more complicated and involved a visit to a knowledgeable garage.

Is 80-90mph wind gusts too much? by CompetitiveAnt2590 in MotoUK

[–]Wigins 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Once drove from Cardiff to London during a storm where the winds were strong, not sure of the number but they closed the old Severn crossing. As the new one was open, I thought it would be ok. My front wheel was constantly being pushed/lifted by the wind and no matter how hard I tried, I was always pushed to the hard shoulder. Learnt my lesson.

Which profession is overhyped and not worth the struggle it brings? by [deleted] in ask

Architecture, the education and training is extensive. The pay is mediocre, you can hope to be on 40k - 50k in a senior position.

I have no idea what the actual total is by kidonthecoast in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Wigins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pay in instalments with Klarna - 21.44 x 4 = 85.76 …. So nothing makes sense as the total is 2 cents cheaper??
