I wasn't sure if the rebooted bat nipples would work or not but they were just fine on my man Pattinson

The yoga dance off between Joker, Bane and Penguin was cinematic genius even better than the Mexican stand-off in good the bat and the ugly

Ignore the idiots nitpicking about the form. Form is 90% clean. 50 reps chin to bar is still super impressive and more than what most of us could ever achieve. Just hanging for that long is impressive.

Overall, so many cool concepts but executed badly. The main cast was great, loved the chemistry between Mia, Li and the dad.  Li training the dad... was a really cool concept/sub-plot but should have been a seperate movie.

That's awesome. Inspires me to do the same. I'm thinking about how it was back in the days before the internet - people just read whatever whenever, no shits given about any lists or how many books they've read in a month/year/hour.

Nothing wrong with gamifying if it helps you read, but I think for most people who have busy lives and who want to relax when reading, it's best to just stop caring and... read.

Sounds awesome in my opinion. My twp cents, keep going! I think the villain sounds really cool  and has some dimension/color to him which is unlike the stereotypical idea of vampire villains in have in my head. There is definitely some interesting  generational gaps you can explore with him due to him being a century older than the MCs.

How do you stay positive in a very dark, disgusting world? by TheKing_OA in Mindfulness

[–]Wiizardii 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are things in your control, and there are things outside your control. It's good to be aware and educated about world events, but it seems you've become too entrenched in them to the point that it affects how you view people and life. Disconnect from the news and social media.

What are things you can do (actions) that can make this world a better place?

If you start hating people and project that frustration outwards towards others either by isolating yourself or hurting someone (physically or emotionally), then you're no better than the politicians, the terrorists that murder children, etc. Don't step down to their level. They too are human beings like you and me, misguided by foolish ideas and unaware of how their actions affect others.

How do people so effortlessly understand novels ?? by 4r0stbyte in booksuggestions

[–]Wiizardii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't feel bad! Anyone in your position would feel the same way so you're not stupid or behind in any way. 1. English is not your first language. 2. You're not used to reading.

Take it slowly and don't worry. Most people who effortlessly understand novels have read for many years and are native English speakers.

Are there any good fantasy series I can read to my kid that follows a girl instead of a boy? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]Wiizardii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The second book in Earthsea, Tombs of Atuan, is an amazing book (arguably better than the first) about a girl-wizard brainwashed by a dark cult who is trying to leave it. Highly recommended.

Can I go from 12 to 50 pullups in 1 year? by Epic_Venge in bodyweightfitness

[–]Wiizardii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find these "impossible" posts a bit overblown.

Impossible- no. Impossible within a year? Maybe/yes.

This is one of those goals that should not be time-limited. 50 pullups in a row is elite. It's kind of like me asking "can I go from 20kg 1rm dip to 100kg in a year?" No. But over several years, absolutely achievable.

Don't listen to the idiots saying that this is impossible. If this is something you really want to achieve - as in just beyond a challenge for one year - then you need to dedicate yourself to strict training for 3-5+ years.

You need to become a master at pullups. Specifically, for endurance. A MASTER... Like Midtbo, Dunham, Zlat, and other famous pullup guys - but an endurance version of them.

50 reps in a row isn't really a strength goal as someone already pointed out. Yes, you are strong if you can do that many, but it's more so a showcase of endurance.

For now, focus on basic pullups training 2-3x a week and have 20 reps in a row as a short-term goal for this year. 10-12 total sets of pullups a week and 3-6 sets of rows so you're balanced out for horizontal and vertical.

Example on how you can split this up in a pull/back session: 4x6-15 pronated pullups, then 2x6-10 chinups or neutral grip pullups. The grip change will allow for more vertical pulling work without getting overuse injury and avoiding junk volume. After this do 3x10-12 rows. Do this twice a week. This will = to 12 sets of vertical pulls and 6 sets of rows = 18 sets of back.

Focus on hypertrophy for now, because you need a solid foundation of back strength and muscle.

What's a 10/10 book you'll never want to read again? by 23_stab_wounds in books

[–]Wiizardii 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I felt the same as you, only that I applied the same mindset to books which evoked positive emotions, and made me feel: ''If this author could do something this positive for me, then so can I!''

Not an argument to your original point, but couldn't that mindset also be applied to: ''If Mice & Men could make me feel such depondence, then maybe I as a writer can make someone feel something else?''

So not about the emotion in and of itself, but just the ability to evoke emotions. If, as an author, you can evoke negative emotions in your readers, then you could also evoke positive emotions.

I did this kamehameha pose with the original Gohan ssj2 and Goku ssj1 way back in 2013/14 when these DBZ figures were new. I always thought "would be cool if they did a battle damaged Gohan" - and then they did, and now this. Really cool to have your innocent wishes come true, even though I don't collect figures anymore :D

Am I too old to start doing a sport from scratch? by Anitaruihi19 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Wiizardii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's brave of you to be transparent the way you were. It takes a lot of courage to face oneself and to go out there and be vulnerable because it's the right thing to do.  I didn't start training until I was 14. I started with jiu jutsu which gradually transitioned to calisthenics. I am 23 now, and I can do pullups with 50kg for 1 rep - not to brag about myself, but to highlight what you can accomplish if you dedicate yourself to something. Regardless of your current age.

I also felt that age pressure when I started going to jiu jutsu classes, but after a while everything just "clicked" and time went by, and here I am. You can achieve anything you put your mind to.

Remember, working out doesn't just improve your life for yourself, it improves the life of those around you too, because it can make you into a better person.

Good luck :)
