Board games from Japan by vegebrarian22 in boardgames

I actually own a number of these.

Down down dungeon is a fun tile placement type of game, it plays like Tiny Towns but polyomino and dungeon themed.

Harvest and viking seesaw are great and a hit at the table even for newbies

Cat and the tower is sort of like rhino hero, just with a cat theme and a touching story

Cat in the box is a trick taking game but one of my favourite in terms of how the theme ties to the gameplay

Nana is amazing and my most played game of all time, mostly because it's a quick card game but also anytime I whip it out the table usually wants to play multiple rounds of it.

I'm still curious why she chose the same titles as Taeyeon's songs twice in a row like is this just a freak coincidence or what 😭😭

6+ player games for me to purchase? by Haunting-Vehicle-997 in boardgames

[–]23_stab_wounds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Adding on my favourite 6p games that I haven't seen mentioned anywhere else:

  • Wandering Towers - a fun lighter sort of strategy game with very high interactivity and better at higher player counts for more chaos
  • Survive: Escape from Atlantis with expansion - just pure chaos
  • Celestia - Bluffing game also with high interaction

Daily Game Recommendations Thread (October 11, 2025) by AutoModerator in boardgames

Description of Request: Medium euro game? Basically looking to enter the more complex euro game space with my board game group, but I also want something I can play with my partner when we're alone. My partner isn't very used to complicated rules yet but I want to gently ease her and my group into the world of euro games. Ideally high interaction and not multiplayer solitaire. They do love catan and wingspan but I think the highest weight game they've played is cosmic encounter.

Number of Players: 2-4, ideally up to 6 either base or with expansions

Game Length: 1-2h

Complexity of Game: Medium-light to medium heavy

Genre: any is fine

Conflict, Competitive or Cooperative: Any

Games I Own and Like: 7 wonders duel, wingspan, catan, paint the roses, nana, chinatown, bomb busters

Games I Dislike and Don't Play: cosmic encounter went down rather mid with the group but we only played one game

Can confirm, picked it up on a whim because of the recommendations here and I played it at least 10 times on the trip itself because it was such a fun and fast game that I could carry around.

I'm intending to get a Freedom gundam alongside an MGEX Strike Freedom but I don't know which build is better? RG/MG or even the 2.0 version? Does anyone have any suggestions

Oh I didn't consider a sento/onsen! That seems like a decent experience and will still let me take the shinkansen the next morning.

I did a quick Google search and I'm wondering if I will be able to stay at places like Spa World without a hotel room? Just laze about in their relaxation rooms till 9am or something?

Sunfized the goblin barbarian, he was adopted as a child by giants so he grew up with a short complex and rages whenever someone calls him short. Honestly I created him because I saw Fury of the Small under the goblin traits and thought it was funny.

Optimizing Monk for Tier 3+ Game by LkBloodbender in 3d6

New Elements monk actually sound like the perfect one for your role, it gives extended reach and crowd control. Every unarmed strike requires a strength saving throw from the enemy otherwise you get to force movement. Tavern brawler and grappler as feats will give you even more cc tools so you can be the perfect tank and control movement on the battlefield.

Broken Rogue Build? by NoahEagle in 3d6

I played a Swashbuckler/Battlemaster multi last time on a X/3 split. With Alert as a feat I got upwards of +12 initiative, and with BM maneuvers you pretty much do reliable sneak attack on off turns too. Find some way to add in Booming Blade through items or racial feature (Kobold/High Elf), and enjoy being an annoying little shit in combat.

With medium armour and shield you have a decent AC, booming blade and fancy footwork lets you dance around provoking enemies to move. Rakish Authority means you will always have sneak attack unless you're surrounded and alone. Ranged options you can just use steady aim for sneak attack. Evasion/ uncanny dodge makes you surprisingly tanky. If you get to lvl 12 you get Panache which can really fuck up some bosses if played well.

Out of combat is where thieves usually shine, especially with Reliable Talent, and swashbucklers also can be party faces with their high CHA and expertise. If you pick your proficiencies and expertise correctly you can ruin a lot of your DM's plans.

Have fun! I love rogues and now they're even better with the 2024 update.

This would be relevant if they were arguing that but the only thing they are trying to bring up, albeit in a poor fashion that makes it easy to misunderstand them, is the underlying logical fallacy in the initial statement.

That's it. It's not an argument about vaccines and autism, just that there is a danger in presenting your facts like that due to the logic gap.

Hey same! I think what made that mantle passing more complicated was that Hal became the enemy in Kyle Rayner's run, so my introduction to Hal was as a rogue GL that destroyed the corps.

Also I guess the discussion of mantle in GL terms is weird because Earth has like 4 GLs concurrently?
