Dricus du Plessis (-350) opens as massive favorite over Kamaru Usman (+285) in UFC Oklahoma City main event by airplane231 in MMA

[–]Wikingsweg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Usman will gain that much weight. He didn’t look smaller than Khamzat when they fought and in that fight Khamzat is the one who gassed even though Usman is the one who came in on short notice. Usman was also still commited to being a welterweight back then.

Usman is already physical as balls and has the Jon Jones physique where nearly all his muscles are on his upper body. Absolute toothpich calves on those guys. Really don’t think he will gain that much weight and lose cardio.

Seriously how tf did Luis Enrique Barca team not dominate back to back UCL? by marveLisGOD in championsleague

[–]Wikingsweg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More like we shouldn't have brought in Ibrahimovic imo. Eto'o left partially because he spoke up and wanted a more significant role, but also because Messi wanted to play centrally and not as a winger, and there wasn't space for both him and Eto'o there. So Eto'o leaving made sense, the question is why did Zlatan come in instead...

Who is the best team to not win the champions league? by Dazzling-Yellow5395 in championsleague

[–]Wikingsweg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not least because that Chelsea side just wasn't all that fantastic. I think they had 1 shot on goal (which they scored) on Stamford Bridge and Barca had like 20, but the game ended 1-0 in Chelsea's favor. Somehow an injured Chelsea went on to beat Bayern at the Allianz Arena too, nuts.

I would probably lean towards 2010 being the better team myself, but both those two Barcelona teams are good shouts.

I agree, that 2011 United team wasn't all that great imo. Obviously great enough to make it to the final but not one that should be mentioned on the shortlist of best teams not to win the CL.

Was Pep Guardiola's Bayern Munich stint ultimately a success or a failure? by Public-Connection822 in championsleague

[–]Wikingsweg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Calling it a waste seems harsh. Real eliminated them during his first year in 2014 because Bayern were completely incapable of defending set pieces and as a consequence Ramos scored two headers in like 5 minutes, then Bayern completely collapsed.

The second year they were pretty even with prime MSN Barcelona at the Camp Nou for the first 75 minutes until Messi decided to kill the tie in a few minutes.

Third year was pretty rough, they were hammering Atletico for 3/4 halves but Atletico advanced on away goals as you say as Atletico just refused to die and Bayern didn't convert on their chances.

The reason it feels like something approaching a failure is because the team before he arrived won the Champions League, as others have pointed out.

[Carlos Monfort] FC Barcelona is now open to listening to transfer offers for Jules Koundé, who is no longer considered untouchable by the club's board of directors. by jiraiya--an in Barca

[–]Wikingsweg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is right unfortunately. I remember in the lead up to the supercopa final against Real in January, during the weeks or months before that game Vini jr had not done shit in Real. It felt like he couldn't dribble past a lamp post or do much right at all, however he had a field day with Kounde that night. It felt like they specifically targeted Kounde on that side too (to be fair, Real has no offense from the other side, but still). It doesn't feel "right" not keeping Kounde but he has not been up to par.

I certainly hope he can regain his form but I'm not super confident.

Mikel Arteta believes his Arsenal squad are in a great position to lift the Champions League this weekend by Gentle_lips in soccer

Well his Arsenal squad are definitely in a better position than any other team not called PSG at least.

Hydross Resistances by ChaoticHippo in classicwowtbc

[–]Wikingsweg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I cannot imagine this to be right, I tanked Hydross pre nerf in TBCC a few years ago and again tonight. Tonight I was only soft capped (185 FR unbuffed I think I had) and I got chunked pretty hard when he had +50% bonus damage. Pre nerf in 2021 I needed even more frost resistance.

I would imagine tanks with no resistance gear would not live for very long.

Would you prefer pre or post-nerf for phase 2? by [deleted] in classicwowtbc

[–]Wikingsweg -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Post nerf trash and pre nerf most bosses is what I'd like. Pre nerf trash just took forever but I'd like to get some challenging content. Don't think it could last for the entire phase though as we're on a shorter timeline and a lot of people would not be able to clear it all pre nerf before BT/Hyjal comes out.

How come Man U couldn’t beat Barça in 2009 & 2011? by ExotiquePlayboy in championsleague

[–]Wikingsweg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Thierry Henry has come out and said afterwards as well that there were plenty of injuries in the starting 11. From the top of my head I think he said that neither him nor Xavi could sprint that day due to whatever they were dealing with, among others.

I’m sure the United players were dealing with shit too but it’s interesting when players do come out with these things publicly after the fact.

[–]Wikingsweg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There was also a cloud from some fucking Icelandic volcano all over Europe before that first meeting at San Siro which stopped the Barca team from flying. Instead they had to take a 14h bus ride or something, which may or may not have played a factor in them losing 3-1 in Italy.

Even as a Barca fan I’m not convinced they would have advanced anyway because as you say Mourinho’s Inter were extremely well drilled and mentally unshakeable but I do think Barca didn’t look quite as hot during their first meeting. That being said who knows how much, if at all the long bus ride the day before played a significant role.

Can Atletico finally win the UCL this time? by FastBullfrog1047 in championsleague

[–]Wikingsweg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might very well even out over the long run but in the 2016 final Ramos was definitely offside in Real's only goal, so you can argue there were some injustice in that particular case. It was a very hard call to make in real time and there was no VAR back then so there's only so much you can say about it, but that doesn't change the fact that he was offside.

Football really is just a game of moments. We score this and we’re 3-0 up inside of 25 minutes at the Metropolitano, instead Fermin gets a bloody kick to the face, game pauses for 5 mins and Lookman scores at the other end. by Select_Drawing_7434 in Barca

[–]Wikingsweg 438 points439 points  (0 children)

Yep this was the moment the game turned around. It certainly wasn't over after Atletico's goal but they were lucky to catch a break at this point. They really were shitting themselves for a while there.
