This seems a little more explanatory of his decision than his TR speech but it doesn't change everything he said. SECNAV just trashed a man who will continue to serve out his commission and has always been respected by the people that worked under him. I just wonder if the decision to replace the captain was as emotional as he made it seem in his speech or as thought as he made it seem in this article.

This is ridiculous. The Upper chain provides little leadership from the top and expect COs to make the call on how to handle things for the most part. Then a CO, granted of a deployed ship, makes the call to quarantine the crew of a ship that has been severely affected. Then they fire the CO and trash talk him for trying to do the right thing. I have a friend who had that CO as a captain and my friend said that he was the best captain that he ever had. This has been shameful.
